"If you don't eat how will you get better" Jenny slammed the spoon into the soup bowl and dropped the bowl on the over-bed table. The soup splashing onto Aunty Rida's face.

"Jenny!" Meeza appeared much too soon.

"I was just... she isn't eating" she explained herself tipping her head back in disappointment and cussing under her breath.

"I'll take it from here" Meeza gave Jenny a stern look pulling the spoon from her grip.

"AssalamuAlaikum mummy how are you" Meeza sat down on the bed next to her giving her a pleasant smile.

Her face lit up instantly like a child.

"Let me feed you" she raised the spoon to her mouth but she refused to open her mouth. Her bottom lip quivered and a tear rolled down Her cheek.

"No more crying mummy, I'm here now isn't it?" She wiped her tear with a napkin and wiped drool off her quivering bottom lip and the soup that had splashed on her forehead.

"The weather is so different here compared to Pakistan" Meeza tried talking drifting Aunty Rida's attention.

"Did you have a good sleep?" she continued to ask not looking her directly in her eye afraid she would burst into tears again.

She served another spoon of soup and this time she gradually opened her mouth in a lopsided way and drank up.

Meeza spoke more about her mum and her life in Pakistan to distract Aunty Rida's mind off everything around her. She opened up the curtains lightening up her mood. Meeza felt her health wasn't getting any better since she arrived.

After Meeza fed her, she gave Aunty Rida her medicines which she willingly took. Meeza switched on the TV for her and tucked her into bed without her fussing about anything this time.

"Oh I'm telling you she's different with you" Jenny wiped tall glasses and placed them on a rack on the kitchen counter.

"I know it's difficult Jenny but what you did wasn't how things are done" Meeza wiped the counter top.

"And what she's been doing to us? what she's done with you? that was all okay?" She emphasized the 'you'

"Quiet, someone will hear you, it isn't right to speak that way, besides I don't dwell much in my past I have come to reason with my past and have forgotten everything" Meeza explained.

"Is that why you aren't speaking to him yet?" her question totally caught her off guard. She avoided it and continued shining the counter.

"How do you put something that huge behind you? How do you put something so big past you? Don't you see it? because she hurt you, this is why she's in this state today, this is karma" Jenny continued.

"the counter is clean enough" she added in a soft tone.

Meeza's hand stopped midair.

"That's a horrible thing to say Jenny" Meeza turned around giving her a glare.

"Few more days and you too will think alike" Jenny snapped her fingers.

"I highly doubt it now that's enough back to work" Meeza avoided her stare, afraid of what she said becoming a reality.

After lunch she had a short call with her mum while she sat at the edge of the pool. She assured her worried sick mother she was fine. She was missing her alot and wanted to go back to her soon. Truth was she hated it here.
She dipped her feet in the pool sitting at the edge with a juice carton in one hand and phone in the other. She was scrolling through her IG when she felt she was being watched. Her sixth sense. She didn't look straight away but saw someone stare at her.
