A Change of Heart

"So, when are you going to ask him out?"

"You get the limo out front," Jos sings into the karaoke machine, "hottest style, every shoe, every color!" Chase finishes the lyric for her. They laugh obnoxiously at each other and sip their vodka coke.

"Who would've thought that a girl like me could double as a superstaaaaaarrrr? YOU GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, CHILL IT OUT TAKE IT SLOW, THEN YOU ROCK OUT THE SHOW." They both yell into the mics while doing jazz hands, and we all laugh at them.

"I can't believe he is really singing Hannah Montana with her." Ryan says as he sits beside me on the floor. I look up from assembling Life. "Yeah, she's deadly obsessed with it and he's Chase so, what did we really expect tonight?" I rebuttal with another laugh.

"When is LANY getting here?" He asks as we both look around to examine the rest of the decorations. "I told them 8:30, so they should be here soon." I say and Ryan stands back up. "Ok, I'm going to make their drinks then." He tells me while walking to the kitchen.

This time Joe sits beside me, I smile up at him. "What's up?" I ask as he puts his phone down on the floor. "My sister is coming to town for a visit, so I'll probably head out earlier tonight. Maybe, I'm not sure yet." He explains and I frown. "I hate that, but I hope it's fun!" I say and he shoves my shoulder slightly with his. "Weird question, are you ready?" He asks and I feel the anxiety bubble up. "Shoot." I say.

"Do you think Joselyn would say yes if I asked her out on a date?" He asks and I laugh, he puts his head down in shame. Then I realize that he thinks she'll say no because I laughed. "Wait! Don't take the laughing as a no. I just didn't know you liked her like that, plus she hasn't had a boyfriend so I'm trying to imagine her with someone!" I quickly add. "Oh, okay good." He breathes out.

"To answer your question, she'll say yes. Just make sure she knows it's not as just friends, because she'll take it like that." I explain and he nods. "When should I ask?" He questions. "Not tonight, she's drunk off of her ass." I joke and he chuckles as we both look up to her singing Gabriella's part in Gotta Go My Own Way. He smiles up brightly to her, I admire his small crush from the side.

"I heard car doors slam!" Zach yells and we all stand up quickly, turning the karaoke machine off. The door opens and we yell 'congratulations!' "Oh wow." Les says while jumping slightly.

"Is this for us?" Paul asks dramatically as he puts his hand on his heart endearingly. "You guys! This is so sweet." Jake says and takes the card out of drunk Joselyns hands. "Are you drunk? I smell Vodka Coke." He asks and Jos giggles. "Hm, maybe." She slurs.

"Anyways, why all the love?" Les asks as he takes one of the drinks out of Ryan's hands. "You are going to be playing as an opening act soon and we're all happy for you." Chase says with a wide smile. "Well we still have one more song left." Jake states. "We know, but we thought you deserved the celebration." I add, the smile. "Well, lets dig in!" Paul says as he walks into the kitchen for the food Jos had prepared before she got drunk.

"I LOVE ROCK N ROLL, PUT ANOTHER DIME IN THE JUKEBOX BABY!" Jake yells into the karaoke machine, Ryan was head banging beside him. "I LOVE ROCK N ROLL, SO COME AND TAKE YOUR TIME AND DANCE WITH ME!" Ryan adds. They both do the overdramatic 'ow,' which causes us all to burst out in laughter.

"So, when are you going to ask him out?" Paul says as he sits beside me. My eyes widen and I almost spit out my drink. "Jake is getting married!" I proclaim under my breath. "Not him you fool!" Paul laughs.

"Ryan is definitely into you." Paul says and I laugh to myself. "He's one of my best friends, he is who I've gotten closest with, there's no way he'd ever want to date me." I explain and Paul raises his eyebrows.

"He likes you, I can tell." He sassily responds. "You're insane, he could never see my like that!" I exclaim. "Do you like him?" He asks and I shrug. "I've never really thought about it. I mean before I even knew him I thought he was cute, but I never thought of him any further since then. We've just gotten close as friends and I don't want to ruin that." I explain further.

"Fine, but just think about it okay. Jake won't let you live it down anyways." Paul says and I roll my eyes. "He's such a dad, I can't with him." I joke. "Promise you'll think about it? I would go tell Jos to keep an eye out for you two, but she seems preoccupied with Joe." Paul says and I look over to see her kissing Joe. "Oh wow, okay. Anyways, thanks for the insight." I laugh.
