New York City

All my life I have had this dream. The dream has always been to be a photographer. I know it's crazy right? A small hometown girl who grew up with hippie parents dreaming of being a photographer? Yeah never heard of that either. This dream always came to me as a little girl and one day I asked my mom and dad if I could get a camera. On my birthday my parents gave me a disposable camera and a polaroid camera. I was the happiest little girl and I am forever grateful to have the parents I do. Not many people I know in this industry have parents as supportive of their dreams.

This past January, I graduated from NYU with a degree in photography and I have been looking for internships with photographers so that I can learn the ropes a bit more since being fresh out of college. I think I have sent in my resume to over 100 photographers and I haven't heard back from any.

After graduation I moved back home to Ohio to spend some time with my parents and family. I thought it would be best to do that because I wasn't home for my great grandmother's funeral. While home, I picked up some freelance work and also small shoots just to build my resume for an internship. But, now I am back in New York because to be honest I missed this fucking city. Yeah it might smell like piss and the rats rule the streets. The transportation sucks and the traffic is hell. I love it more than bumfuck Ohio, always will.

Waking up this morning, I feel great. First day back in my apartment and I have a lot to do. So I woke up a bit earlier than normal so I can get done what I wanted to get done before I meet a friend for lunch. Getting out of bed I head to my kitchen so I can make a coffee for breakfast since it's the only thing I have in my apartment.

Grabbing my coffee mug, I get greeted by my favorite person in the world, my cat Rosie. She has been the best addition to my life. I got her my first year here in New York because I quickly learned how lonely it can be. Rosie honestly saved me during dark times in these 4 short years.

"Good morning my sweet girl, did you dream good dreams?" Rosie jumps up on the counter and plops down and purs. The normal response from her I get every morning. "Oh that sounds amazing, okay I guess I will give you your morning pets now" laughing at how adorable she is even though this is always how our mornings together go. After her morning pets, I turn back to making my coffee and asking google to turn on my current favorites playlist on spotify. The Chain by Fleetwood Mac starts blasting through my apartment. Such a good fucking song. But also I am biased as Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band from the 70's and probably my favorite band of all time. It's a tie between them and One Direction.
