"Normal" - this is Jimin speaking "Mermen" - this is the mermen talking, Jimin doesn't understand them.

Jimin watched in shock as the mermen emerged from the water. The water leveling with their collar bones. They all looked at him expectantly.
But currently the merman Jimin had seen before was leaning so close into his personal space he had subconsciously been leaning back. The merman followed him as he was practically lying back on the rocks, the merman half hovering above him.
"Hi?" Jimin tried.
The merman tilted his head to the side considering what Jimin had said. He clearly had no clue as he blew his red hair out of his eyes.
But he made a happy sound if Jimin had to predict. The other mermen mimicked the sound. Jimin looked hesitant. But he soon put a smile on his face and waved at the mermen farther out to sea.
He pulled his legs out of the water and reached back to grab his art book and a sketching pencil. He wanted to draw the mermen they were all beautiful in their own individual ways.
He was forced to shield his notebook as the red haired merman leant forward to see what he was doing, water dripping off of him and almost landing on the dry page.
"No" Jimin shook his head trying to convey the message.
The merman tilted his head and then let out a distressed whine. So Jimin did what he thought would sait him, he reached over and rubbed his cheek briefly to the others. The merman looked delighted at this action. Making a rumbling noise at the back of his throat, it ended in a series of deep clicking sounds.
By this point the other 5 merman had followed the red haired merman to the rocky outcrop. They too watched Jimin like hawks, one tilting their head to the side, as if trying to decipher what Jimin was.
Jimin began to draw he didn't know when he would next have 6 merman so close to him and he wanted to capture them in as much detail as possible.
He started by sketching the merman he has already met. It was a pity their tails were in the water Jimin would have liked to draw them.
Once he had sketched the curious red haired merman, he decided to write some notes. Making a note of personality traits and actions.
Jimin's notes:
● Greeted me with a wave from side of body towards body ● Affectionate - likes to rub his cheek with mine ● Regularly makes purring noises - Communication technique?
