Author POV

Jimin finished the seafood meal he had been gifted, standing up he brushed the sand off of his shorts. He still wanted to look at the caves, the sea still had over 6 hours till full tide so he would be able to explore the caves safely.

Once he made sure his bag was secure back at the cliff base. He pulled his jacket on, it was light material and he double checked his phone was in one of the pockets. He hadn't put it in his shorts pocket, since he had been wading out to sea and hadn't wanted to damage it.

Jimin began to walk over to the caves, the mermen began to make snickering noises, Jimin had no idea what they meant, so he continued on. The mermen having finished their kimchi began to follow him after they swam out into deeper waters.

Jimin grabbed his phone out of his jacket pocket, turning on the torch so he could see the way in. There was a channel down the centre of the cave so the mermen could swim down it. They followed closely, they seemed nervous, head flickering back and forth rapidly.

There was a yowling sound, the mermen all tensed up. Jimin continued forward, eyebrows furrowed together. The silver scaled merman grabbed at his ankle and shook his head, clearly he didn't want Jimin to go.

Jimin bent down he could see worry in the pitch black eyes of the merman, he gently stroked the merman's hand around his ankle. The merman let go, but to his dismay Jimin only continued further into the cave.

The green scaled merman let out a high pitched shriek when another yowl was heard. The loud sound echoed around the cave. It was so high that Jimin dropped his phone to clutch his hands to his ears to try and stop the ringing sound.

With his light on the floor of the cave, narrowly missing from sliding into the water. The black scaled merman picked it up with wet hands and passed it back to Jimin when he finally dropped his hands away from his ears.

The yowling sound came again, louder it was close. The green and coral mermen shrieked, quieter this time and Jimin almost snickered when they clutched out at eachother.

Because he had seen what the source of their worry was. It was a cat. A small, black, white and brown cat.

Jimin bent down to pet it, it all but arched into his touch. It looked half starved under his torch light. He leant down and scooped the cat up from under its belly and clutched it tight to his chest. He began his way out of the cave, precious cargo in hand.

The mermen followed him they were glaring at the cat, not trusting the small furry creature. Jimin was unaware of this glaring contest. Jimin finally saw the light at the end of the cave. With water lapping at his feet he made his way across the uneven rocks and onto the sandy beach.

The cat nuzzled into his hair, thanking its saviour. Licking his ear and cheek in small kisses. Jimin smiled and readjusted the cat so it was more secure in his grasp.

He remembered that one of the merman had caught him a fish before. He had recognised it as a tuna fish. He carried the cat over to his back pack. He grasped the materials out of his back pack to create a fire. He had brought it just incase he wanted to cook some food on the beach.

He got to work with the cat weaving in and out of his feet as he did so. He made the fire far enough up the beach that it wouldn't be put out quickly by the slowly rising tide. The merman watched him in silence.

When Jimin wasn't watching the cat padded down the beach towards the mermen. The mermen shifted uncomfortably and hissed lowly at the cat, bearing sharp teeth. The cat responded by arching it's back and hissing a low sound back. The mermen backed off slightly.

Jimin had finally gotten the fish onto the skewer above the fire. He wanted to cook the fish, he had double checked that the cat could eat cooked fish. He suspected the cat was one of the kittens that went missing on the island about 3 years ago. His Grandfather had kept a cat around the house to keep him company since his wife no longer could. It gave birth to a litter of kittens, he had cared for them all till it became too much for him to care for in his old age. So he had ensured they went to safe homes.

Jimin checked the pattern on the cat and with a photo on his phone and was able to label the cat as 'Latte', the kitten that had gone missing.  Latte came back up the beach and took a seat on Jimin's lap where he was cooking the fish.

It took about 20-30 minutes to cook the whole fish. But then Jimin got to work cutting it up. He took out one of the tubs he had stored the leaf parcels of food for the mermen and mashed down some of the tuna into it. Offering the box out to Latte to immediately began to wolf down the food.

He could see the mermen along the shore line so he cut up pieces of the tuna and brought them down to the shore line. He offered the cooked meat out to them. They stared with curiosity at it, they had never eaten cooked food before. Especially fish that they were so used to eating raw.

The coral scaled merman reached out first, he seemed the most interested in the food. He sniffed it and Jimin almost rolled his eyes, but he popped a small piece of the cooked fish in his own mouth to prove that it was safe. The coral merman followed, his eyebrows furrowed as he tried to understand the taste. But soon he was reaching out for more.

That eased the worry out of the other mermen as they were soon eating all the fish out of Jimin's hands. But this didn't prevent them from glaring at the cat who was happy and full on the beach.

Another chapter. I hope you liked it.

The mermen are scared of the cat, Latte but the cat will come to be a useful aspect in the book. Plus you will probably get alot of funny cute moments between Latte and the mermen.

Also fun fact:

Since some of you were wondering why I made Namjoon's scales to be silver. I was inspired by his speech at the end of one of BTS concerts, when he said he didn't care what colours everyone were. So I thought if he had silver scales they would reflect the sun and make his tail multicoloured almost.

Anywho I hope you enjoyed the chapter.
