Author POV

Jimin was taking a day to himself. The house was in dire need of maintenance. He knew a minor storm was coming from the way that the island was changing and he wanted to have a safe place to stay.

So he had gotten to work, taking out old rotten bits of wood. When he had first come to the island he had brought supplies, boxes upon boxes of materials that would be needed to repair the house. He had simply stored them at the back of the house, boxes yet to be opened.

He set to work in the hallway first. He needed to pull up the now splintered floor boards and empty hole that was currently still there from when he had found his Grandfather's journal on the mermen. He hoped when going through the house he might find more hidden journals or information left behind by his Grandfather.

He was delighted when he found a seashell necklace stuck under the floorboards where he had discovered the journal. He remembers it was one of his Grandmother's favourites. She almost always wore it around the house. He clipped the clasp around his own neck, feeling more connected to his Grandma who he still missed dearly.

When he had lifted all of the old wooden floor boards from the hall, he did a thorough inspection, attempting to find any more secrets that his Grandfather had left behind. He disappointingly found nothing. So instead he got to work measuring out the planks of wood that would replace the flooring. It took him all of the morning and a little into the afternoon to finally have the floor in place.

He went to go and grab some food, having gone past lunch, but he was starving. So he took some of the salad he had prepared earlier and walked and ate as he entered the hallway, with the intention of assessing the broken front door and its rusted hinges.

He decided he would need to replace the whole thing. The door was battered beyond repair. And it would take to much work fixing it, the easier option would just be to replace it. So he got to work, measuring out some planks that were the sturdiest but still light enough that he could swing the door open and shut.

He was so busy throughout the day, he didn't think to visit the mermen, who were all waiting on the shoreline for him.

"Where is he?" Taehyung demanded. His voice full of pain.

"He will come soon, right?" Jungkook turned to look to the eldest of the group, Jin.

"I don't know. He might have a human think to do today" Jin offered.

That had Hoseok whining. Deep and low and full of distress and pain.

"Can you go see him? Make sure he is ok" Taehyung turned to look at Yoongi.

He was one of the 3 mermen in the group who had learnt how to change his tail to human legs and walk with them relatively well. He also had the most self control.

"I am sure he is fine" Yoongi dismissed. He really didn't fancy taking a walk up the steep cliff road to where their human resided.

But eventually it was the desperately pleading of the rest of the group that made him cave to their wishes.

"Fine but I want the best pick of the fish tonight" Yoongi bargained.

"Done" Jin agreed.

He let out a huffing noise as he began to drag himself up the beach, till his black galaxy colour tail parted to form legs. His whole body was still covered in black scales.

He groaned in discomfort, feeling the sand on his feet. He staggered as he tried to get to said feet. He stumbled up the beach, barely able to stand, he hadn't walked like a human in years and he certainly hadn't missed it.

He pushed back his wet hair, hissing in relief when the cold water met his back. He hated not having the water on his body, it felt like a part of his identity had been stripped away. He was in no way human, yet here he was acting like a human, walking on solid ground with legs instead of a tail.

But as much as he had grumbled and groaned to the others about having to go, he too was worried for their human mate. Not having his presence in the bay had rattled them all, especially their youngest.

He found the weird cat thing on the cliffs. Which must mean he was close to Jimin's home.

"Take me to Jimin" he demanded to the cat.

The cat merely blinked at him, not moving an inch.

"Stupid cat thing, do I have to do everything myself" Yoongi hissed in annoyance.

His legs had slowly grown more used to walking as the journey proceeded. The heat was starting to get to him, he wanted to do the human think Jimin did when he escaped from them. Running as Jimin had called it, but he knew his legs weren't strong enough for that. His tail was powerful though he knew that, he had once smashed open a pirate's hull with a beat of his tail. But they seemed to be a thing of the past now.

He felt faint, not used to being out of water for this long. His scales were itchy and stiff to move. But eventually he saw the wooden home of his human mate.

He staggered forward towards it, the cat suddenly appeared out of nowhere and walked calmly up to house.

"Bet you had to follow me to find it, stupid cat" Yoongi muttered under his breath.

There was wood and materials all over the place. Yoongi was concerned  whether Jimin was safe. He tried to quicken his pace and over come the growing heat that was spreading over his body.

He promptly made his way to the entrance way into the house. But the heat got to him, muddled his senses. He collapsed there and then, crashing hard onto the wooden floor and was still.

So you finally got to hear some of the insults that the mermen say about the 'cat' as they have dubbed it. Poor Latte doesn't get a proper name in the eyes of the mermen.

Plus an overly grumpy and dramatic Yoongi.

What's not to love?

I hope you liked the chapter.
