Marinette's POV

Cat Noir and I stand outside the Agreste Mansion. It's almost midnight. "Thank you for keeping me company," I whisper, reaching out to play with his hair. "And for keeping me safe."

"It's what I do best," Cat Noir gloats, flexing. I roll my eyes. "Always here to protect my Princess."

"I'm trying to be serious here, Cat Noir..." I whisper, laughing anyway. He leans in close. My heart starts pounding in my chest. Faster and faster. Why do I want to kiss him suddenly? Could Mom be right?

Cat Noir smirks. "What? Cat got your tongue?"

There's only one way to know if these feelings are real or not. "Kitty, can I try something real quick?"

He looks stunned. "Uh, sure." He clears his throat. "What did you have in mind?"

"Don't move, please." With shaky hands, I lift them and cup his face. It's warm. I brush my fingertips along his jawline as I pull him closer. His eyes widen. "Is this okay?"

Cat Noir nods. "Yes. It's purrfect."

Almost ruining a good moment, that cat. I take in a deep breath and close my eyes, kissing him without a second thought. Sparks run through my veins as our lips touch. Cat Noir tugs me closer as the kiss deepens. There is definitely something there. I pull back after a moment.

"Woah," Cat Noir whispers, breathing hard. We just stare at each other, molding this perfect moment between us. "Wow. That was..."

I didn't think it was possible, but I am. I am in love with Cat Noir.

"Why did you want to do that?" He asks, taking a claw and playing with a loose strand of my hair. "Not that it was bad or anything. It just took me by surprise."

"I don't know," I whisper, honest. Never in a million years did I think I'd kiss Cat Noir again. "I guess I was just curious."

"You know what they say about the cat." Cat Noir chuckles. "Well, I think it's time I say goodnight, Princess."

My heart sinks. Kissing me must have been horrible if he already wants to go home. "Okay," I mumble, frowning. I hug him before he can see my sad smile. "Goodnight, Cat Noir."

"Goodnight, Mari." Cat Noir waves before running off down the street.

"Stupid cat," I mutter, a tear running down my cheek. It was stupid to think he'd feel the same way. Cat Noir's in love with Ladybug, not Marinette. Disappointed, I enter through the gates, dragging my feet behind me as I walk in.

"Oh. There you are, Marinette." Mr. Agreste walks out of his office over to me. He glances behind me. "Where's my son? Isn't Adrien with you?"

I shake my head. "No. Adrien should be in his room. I-I just went for a walk. Why? Is something wrong?"

"I need to talk to the both of you," Mr. Agreste says, adjusting his glasses. "Officer Roger called and informed me that your stalker has finally been caught. I can imagine you must feel relieved."

"I do," I admit, nodding. "Umm. What did you have to tell us?"

Mr. Agreste turns his full attention to me. "Miss Dupain-Cheng, I think it's time you go home now."

My eyes widen. What? No! I can't leave yet. Hawkmoth is still a threat.

"You've been nothing but a—somewhat—respectful guest, but Drew Deville has been arrested. The safety of my home is no longer needed for you."

"What?" I ask, eyes watering. "But Mr. Agreste-" He raises a hand and I stop talking.

Adrien comes running downstairs. "Father, you can't be serious! Why are you kicking Marinette out?"
