Sunghoon's surgery had lasted no more than three hours, yet he still wasn't awake when I was allowed into his hospital room again. It was normal for anaesthetics to wear off with time anyways, so I had let myself rest my head on the edge of his bed wanting to close my eyes a bit before he woke up.

However, I was woken up when I felt a hand ruffle my hair weakly, making me immediately lift my head from the bed and look up in confusion.

"Don't make me laugh, it'll only hurt," Sunghoon softly reminded in a hoarse voice as I immediately looked up at him with big eyes, "hello," he smiled softly as he looked over at me with slightly squinted eyes.

"How long have you been awake?" I questioned and he attempted at a small shrug before quickly deciding against it.

"Only half an hour," he murmured and I nodded at him, "I didn't want to wake you up."

"I'm fine," I murmured and waved it off, softly grabbing his hand that had rested in my hari moments ago. His hand had fallen down to lay by his side and he seemed a bit too weak to lift it agian, "how are you feeling?"

"A bit tired," he whispered and I just nodded, lifting my other hand to softly brush his hair out of his forehead, "it hurts a bit, but hurts more if I cough or laugh."

"And when you just speak?" I questioned and he shook his head, "nothing?"

"Only a little," he assured me, "they said it would be better by tomorrow, and I would be able to sit up straight... when are you going home?"

"When you are," I quickly replied only making a small smile spread on his face as he shook his head, "I am."

"You need to get proper rest, that isn't in a chair," he reminded me softly and I shook my head at him, "Sieun, you do," he sternly reminded and opened his eyes wider to get his point across, "I get you're worried and want to stay with me here, but let's agree taht you go home during the night and sleep at home, okay? You can spend all day with me here, but you go home during the night."

"I can't sleep without you," I shook my head at him.

"Please Sieun?" he whispered, "for me? I don't want you risking your health for me."

"What if I leave in the night and something happens to you?" I whispered and he smiled softly at me, quietly shaking his head at me, "what if, Sunghoon?"

"Don't think like that," he muttered, "I already promised to not leave you behind and I intend to keep that promise. I know I'll keep that promise. Go home and get some rest in the night."

I sighed as I looked down at his mattress, which was an awful bright clinically white color. It was impressive no one had gone blind from looking at those sheets.

"I'll think about it," I nodded at him eventually, only earning a small smile as he carefully rubbed his thumb against the back of my hand.

"Are you taking the scholarship?" he questioned and I shrugged.

I hadn't spared the scholarship a second thought after he went into surgery. I had spent the three hours in a weird limbo of quietly assuring myself he was gonna be alright and having a full on mental breakdown just by the thoughts of what could go wrong.

"I was more worried about you," I whispered as I shook my head. I didn't really know why I was whispering. I guess I just feared if I spoke in my normal voice it would cause something bad to happen.

"Everything will be alright, I swear," he whispered, only earning a small nod from me. Having picked on my whispering as well.

I laid my head back down on his mattress, where it had laid moments before. This time I didn't close my eyes, I just stared ahead, listening as Sunghoon turned his head on his pillow.

I didn't want him to say anything, I didn't need him to. I just wanted there to be quiet for my mind to rest calmly. I only needed to have his presence and warmth around me to assure me he was alright, and that was truly all I needed.

Sensing I enjoyed the silence, Sunghoon gave my hand a soft squeeze and caressed my knuckles softly. I let my eyes close quietly as I let out a small breath of relief, just feeling happy by the fact that the sugery had went well, now all I needed was for him to get better so we could go home together.

Soon it would be like he never even was sick. It would be like nothing ever happened and nothing would be a problem.
