"ADELINA you piece of shit." My mom yelled as she chased me down the stairs.

Tears streamed down my face as I ran to protect my sister.

"Mom, please don't," I said through sobs as I pushed my eight-year-old sister behind my back.

"Adelina, move out of my damn way." She pushed me away, making me fall roughly onto the floor.

She slapped my sister's face. I screamed out telling her to stop. She grabbed her hair forcing her to look at her.

"Mom please," I begged. I got up trying to move her hands away from her but she pushed me back to the floor.

"Stay out of this Adelina." She pointed in my face. She was about to give her another slap. I couldn't take it.

"She didn't do it," I screamed out. She went silent, frozen in her tracks. She dropped Mia, my little sister, onto the floor. She ran over to me. I wrapped my arms around her as she cried.

"What do you mean she didn't do it?" She turned her head towards us.

"She didn't do it," I repeated again.

"Then who did it, Adelina." She looked me in the eyes.

"He was trying to" She grabbed me up by my hair before I could finish my sentence.

"You didn't see shit. Do you hear me?" She shook my head violently. More tears started falling uncontrollably.

"But I did." Right then I regretted what I said. She let go of my hair and slapped me across the face.

"You little shit." She kicked me in the ribs repeatedly. I started seeing blurs everywhere. I looked over to Mia. She was crying against the wall.

"Mia." I tried reaching for her but I was kicked again.

"You children never listen. Everything I did was for you, the both of you ungrateful little brats." My mom screamed out.

I was about to give up. The pain in my body hurts so much. I couldn't do it anymore. Live in a world with her. All I had to do was give up. My eyes started to get heavy.

Just give up.

Let your body go.

My eyes were about to close when I saw my mother walk over to Mia.

Mia.

I can't leave my sister with her. I opened my eyes wider.

"Leave her alone," I said but was too weak to scream. Searching for a weapon I saw a bat leaning against the table. Dragging myself over to it I reached for it. Looking back at them she was hitting Mia. That fueled me. I got up using the strength I had left with the bat in my hand. I walked up to her.

"I SAID LEAVE HER ALONE," I screamed out as I swung the bat to her head. She didn't even move. She grabbed the bat and threw it on the floor.

"I'm tired of you. All of you are ruining my life like this." She screamed as she backed me up against the wall. Her eyes locked onto something. Following her gaze, my heart stopped. She grabbed the gun and pointed it at my head.

"MOM," I screamed out through sobs. I cried as I looked her in the eyes. Her eyes held pain.

"Please don't." I shook my head as more tears just kept flowing.

"I didn't want to have to do this. But you give me no choice." She wrapped her hand around my throat.

I screamed out, throwing my hands at her trying to break free. I couldn't breathe and for the third time today, I felt like dying. I tried to reach something, anything. My hand rubbed over something rough.

Grabbing it I smashed it into her head she dropped the gun and held her head. I fell to the ground catching my breath. My eyes locked onto the gun. I tried grabbing it but she beat me to it. Pointing the gun at me once again.

"You were always such a horrible daughter. I NEVER WANTED YOU. YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED. HE SHOULD HAVE KILLED YOU." She screamed out as she held her head.

"I NEVER ASKED TO BE HERE. YOU THINK I WANTED TO BE HERE I DIDN'T. YOU ARE A HORRIBLE MOTHER." I shouted back at her. She screamed out, closed her eyes, and shot the gun.

I felt my body, not feeling anything. I looked up at my mother. She dropped the gun, falling onto her knees. I looked over to Mia. She held her stomach as she looked at me.

"MIA." I ran over to her.

"No, no, no, no, no" I held her in my hand. I pressed my hand onto the wound.

"Mia stay with me." I cried out. I looked over at my mother. She had tears rolling down her cheeks. She tried to come over to us but I quickly grabbed the gun pointing it at her.

"Mia baby I-I didn't mean to. It was an accident." She said as she held her chest. She looked over at me.

"Adelina my baby." She made another step toward us.

"Stay back or I will shoot you," I scream out.

"Adelina, please forgive me. I'm so sorry." She cried out. I shook my head.

"No, your're not. Look what you did." I said as I kept crying.

"You're A MURDERER," I shout out. She shook her head.

"NO, I'M NOT. I was just protecting you because I love you." She stepped closer and closer to us.

"STAY AWAY." I shot the gun, closing my eyes from the loud noise. As I opened them she held her stomach. She collapsed onto the ground. Breathing out I cried even more hugging Mia. I picked her up from the floor.

I looked over to my mother for the last time, then walked out the door.

It was raining. The neighborhood was dark, the street lights were flickering on and off. No cars were driving. I collapsed onto the sidewalk. I was too weak.

"Mia," I whispered to her. She opened her eyes and looked at me.

"Is she gone?" She managed to say. I nodded my head.

"Please stay with me." I placed my head on her shoulder, my hands wrapped tightly around her.

I started seeing black spots, I soon was surrounded by darkness.
