I sat in front of my mother looking into her eyes. I haven't eaten or drank anything. It's been a day and I've been staring at my prize possession since. I heard heavy footsteps running into the room. I saw Mia run in but stopped dead in her tracks when she saw our mother into pieces on the floor. She looked up at me and ran over wrapping me in a hug.

I saw Leo run in.

"Are you okay?" He asked. I nodded as I held onto Mia.

"She's dead." She said to me, I smiled as it occurred to me that the main problem in my life was gone.

"Yeah she is." I rested my head on her shoulder.

"I'll go get someone to clean this up." He walked out of the room.

"And you need to be cleaned up. Mason is with Natalie so you don't have to worry." We slowly got up and walked towards the staircase.

"What will I ever do without you little sis." She chuckled and led me into my room.

---

"So are you going to Italy?" Mia asked as I collapsed onto my bed.

"Why would I?" I sat up leaning against the bed head. She stops in front of the bed.

"Because Alessandro will be there." She said as if it was obvious. Sighed and looked away.

"Adelina your life has been nothing but horrible for you. The best way to get rid of your past is to overcome it. Mom is dead. You don't have to worry about me anymore and I'm happy with Nathan. Didn't you say that Mason wouldn't mind living in Italy. This-"

"It's not as easy as it sounds Mia. I would be leaving everything behind." I stood up from the bed.

"What exactly is everything?" She placed her hands on her hips. I stared at her fumbling with my words.

"Things" I shrugged.

"Like?" She asked. In all honesty I don't have anything that I would be leaving behind besides Mia and Natalie. I sighed and sat down in a chair.

"Remember when I told you Nathan just got out of prison and he runs a mafia?" She asked. I nodded my head.

"Well he's kinda the reason Alessandro is here. I was shocked when he told me but you don't look shocked." She asked, concerned. I laughed.

"Alessandro told me why he was here and then you told me about Nathan. I put two and two together." I shrugged and looked down at my fingers.

"You love him. You deserve to be happy." She walked over to me and held my hands.

"What if he doesn't want me anymore?" I looked down on the floor. She laughed.

"Alessandro? Don't want you? That is so funny. That man has been running behind you since you guys met. He loves you, you love him and I think you will make an amazing step mother." She shrugged. I groaned.

"I forgot about Sabina." I said truthfully. She shakes her head.

"I'm going to the wedding because Nathan is friends with Leo. We're leaving later tonight." She took something out of her pocket and slipped into my hand. She kissed my cheek and walked over to the door.

"Make the right choice Adelina. Not only for you but for Mason and Alessandro." She walked out leaving me alone in my silence. I looked down on the paper and sure enough it was an address to the airport.

Would I be making the right decision if I went?

I stared at the piece of paper contemplating on going or not. I folded it, shoving it into my pocket. I sat in the room staring at the wall.

–------

I've been pacing back and forth for five hours now. I stood in Mason's room waiting on him. I heard the door downstairs open.

"Mom?"

"Upstairs." I shouted back at him. I heard his footsteps climbing up the stairs. He pushed his door open and he stopped in his tracks. He looked at me then back at the suitcase.

"How do you feel about learning Italian?" I smiled at him. He dropped his school bag and ran up to hug me. I laughed as I wrapped my arms around him.

"Come on, you Aunts are waiting for us." I ruffled his hair. He slapped my hand out his hair and glared at me but then smiled grabbing his suitcase.

"This is the only time I'm allowing it, mother." He pointed at me and I raised my hands in the air.

"Okay" I laughed.
