Chapter Five - The Devil Lives In Hawkins

April, Eddie, and Chrissy met up after the game and when Eddie's d&d game had finished. Eddie and April had been to get their movie for the night, the never-ending story. Once they got back to his trailer they all headed inside. "Eddie baby, I'm gonna go see max, just come get me when your done" April spoke as she walked over to Max's trailer. Max loved April, she felt like the closest thing to Billy. The one woman who Billy let into their real-life and Max found comfort in her. "This is my uhh... castle," Eddie said to Chrissy as he walked up the trailer steps and held the door open for her, blowing a kiss to April as she walked over to the Mayfield trailer. "Sorry for the mess, me and April kinda had a wild night last night, and well the maid took a week off" Eddie spoke as he began to clear some rubbish in the living room. "You um... you live here alone?" Chrissy asked as she looked around the trailer and spotted a few of April's things left on the sofa. "With my uncle, but uh... he works nights at the plant" Eddie spoke tossing rubbish into the trash can. "Bringing home the big bucks" He added moving his weed tin from the counter, "how long does it take?" Chrissy spat out like she was in a rush, "Sorry?..." Eddie spoke as he turned to her with a confused look on his face. "The special K, how long to kick in?" She spoke as she began to rub her hands together, "Oh, er... well, it depends if you snort it or not" He spoke rummaging to find it "Uh, if you do, then uh. Yeah, it'll kick in pretty quick" He spoke with a smile "Oh... shit" He mumbled opening a tub, "You're sure you have it?" Chrissy asked her voice laced with panic. "No, no I got it. Um, somewhere" Eddie spoke as he stood up and turned walking to his bedroom. "Sorry, I'm late sweetheart" Eddie spoke as he kissed his fingers before strumming the guitar, "You're beautiful". Chrissy began to move around quite erratically in the living room while waiting for Eddie to come back. Eddie rummaged through his bedroom trying to find the special K. "Eddie? Did you find it?" Chrissy spoke quickly, "Eddie?" She called out again. "Gottcha" Eddie spoke finding the special K in a locked box in his cabinet "found it" he called out as he made his way back to the living room. "Peaceful bliss, just moments away" He spoke as he made it into the living room. He found Chrissy standing in his living room dead still like she was in a trance "Chrissy?" He spoke as his face washed with concern, "Chrissy... Hello" He spoke moving closer throwing his arm about to try and catch her eye. "Chrissy" He spoke as he jumped straight at her. "Hey, Chrissy wake up" He spoke placing the special k onto the coffee table, "Hey... Hello" He spoke waving his hand again. "Chrissy? Hello?" He spoke as he started to snap his fingers in her face "Hey Chrissy" He spoke again before the lights in his trailer began to flicker.

"Time to wake up, Hello? Can you hear me?" Eddie spoke again clapping his hands together as he began to panic. "Wake up Chrissy" He called out as he began to shake her shoulders, "Chrissy wake up" He began to shout as he shook her. "I don't like this Chrissy! Wake up!" He shouted again as his shaking became slightly violent. "Chrissy, Chrissy, Chrissy" He shouted louder as he began to tap her face. April sat outside Max's trailer with her, "Max I'm just gonna go check on them. I'll be back, wait inside for me as it's getting cold" April spoke as she stood and walked over to Eddie's trailer she opened the door and stood in shock, "Eddie?!" She called out as she came running in. "Chrissy, wake up. Wake up now! Chrissy" He shouted as he continued to tap her face, April stood in horror as she watched "Chrissy!" Eddie shouted again tapping her, "Oh my god Eddie move" April called out ad she grabbed his waist hiding behind his back they watched in shock and horror as Chrissy began to lift off the floor "Eddie I don't like this" April spoke holding herself close to him. Eddie stumbled back causing them to slam into the floor with Eddie on top of April "Jesus christ" He shouted as Chrissy slammed flat against the roof of the trailer. Her bones began to snap as blood began to drip from her eyes the two screamed holding each other close "What What fuck fuck Eddie" April shouted holding her hands over her face. Once Chrissy had fallen down both April and Eddie ran straight into the van and drove off as fast as they could both hyperventilating.

The next day police attended the scene with it being played on every channel in the area. Max skated as fast as she could to Dustins and knocked on the door, once he let Max in "Chrissy Cunningham?" He spoke in shock as Max nodded. "You're sure it was Chrissy?" Dustin said as he began to pave his room. "Yes, in her cheerleader outfit. The same thing she was in when I saw her with Eddie" Max said as she played with her fingers, "did you tell all this to the cops?" Dustin spoke as he paced "No" Max spoke her words cutting like a knife, "No but... I can't be the only one who saw them together" she spoke as she began to rub her head "I can't be the only one, I mean they stood out" she added as she stood. "Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader?" Dustin spoke as he stopped to look at Max, "Exactly, you know, his names not in the news yet or anything" Max spoke with a sign. "but I guarantee that Eddie is the suspect number on now" she added as she began to pave too. "That's crazy" Dustin spoke his voice raised slightly. "Eddie didn't do this... No way" Dustin spoke his voice raised in disbelief, "No way" he repeated to max who dramatically shrugged her shoulders "We can't rule it out" she stated quickly. "Yes, we can" Dustin spoke again his face showed one of shock at the accusations "Dustin!" Max shouted as she looked at him in shock as he didn't believe her "You don't know him like I do, Max" Dustin sighed, "Okay?" Dustin sighed as he let his anger leave him. "When we got to high school Lucas made all his sports friends, Mike and me? I mean, no one was nice to us. No one except Eddie" He spoke watching as Max rolled her eyes slightly as he spoke, "Okay. Well, they said the same shit about Ted Bundy" Max stated which she did have a fair point with. "Yeah, he's a super nice guy, but then he's murdering women on the weekend" She added as she laughed awkwardly "So... you're saying Edie is like Ted Bundy?!" Dustin asked his voice bubbling with anger again "No, I'm not saying - I'm saying that we can't presume anything, okay?" Max said her body tensing slightly as she spoke remembering April, "But it doesn't look good for Eddie" She added as she watched Dustin sigh as he sat on his bed Max sighed as she gained her breath back. "Why haven't you told the cops this?" Dustin asked knowing Max was hiding something "I... I don't know." Max said as she rubbed her hand up her arm "You don't know?" Dustin repeated realizing he didn't believe her even slightly. "After I saw Eddie and Chrissy go into the trailer... April came over. I can't tell the police about April, She is the closest thing I have to Billy still being here. But something else happened I went into my trailer to watch some tv as my mom fell asleep the tv started to go all static so i hit it then all the lights in my trailer began to flicker before suddenly going back to normal then I heard both April and Eddie scream. As one of the blood screams from the movies, I looked out the window and Eddie was running holding April in his arms he put her in the van and got in and speeded off, I know Eddie speeds but this was so fast that the car couldn't keep up. Nothing that weird of anything. I mean... Eddie always drives like a maniac, and the power goes off at my place all the time. It's a piece of shit. But... this morning, I started to think back and... I don't know the look on their faces. They were scared, Dustin. Really scared maybe they were scared because you know, Eddie... just killed someone or maybe um... maybe be... because I don't... I don't know, maybe" Max spoke her voice was quiet like this conversation had played in her head a million times. "Something else killed her" Dustin spoke looking at max trying to get any emotion he could from her, Max just turned and nodded. "But that's impossible. Right?" she added as she began to think. "I don't know, it should be," Dustin said as he played with his hands "Only two people know what actually happened," Dustin said as he glanced up at Max "Eddie and April" Max replied.

"Have you talked to anyone else?" Dustin spoke as they walked the hall of his house, "No" Max replied bluntly "I can't find Lucas or Nancy, and Mike's in" Max spoke as she rushed behind Dustin "California. Shit, shit, shit" he spoke as he walked to the door "Dusty where are you going?" Dustin's mom asked. "To see a friend" he replied as he pushed Max out. "You heard the news. It's not safe" His mom continued. "We'll be careful. Thanks. Love you. Bye," He spoke before closing the door.
