Lyra's POV

Present

"And no one gave it a second thought?" He asked me

"Well, what more evidence do you need than a blasted car and the victim nowhere to be found?" I said

"The police might've looked for a while, but it wasn't that they really cared. A mafia boss's competent daughter was dead and it was only a good thing for the common people wasn't it?" I asked and he nodded, deep in his thoughts

"well i took that to my advantage and disappeared into thin air" i said crossing my arms against my chest in a protective manner

"I spent the rest of the years planning, getting evidence and following them all like a shadow" i said with pure hatred

"But you didn't kill them then, why?" He asked me

"Well, i like to believe that there is something that's a little bit better than just death. I call it 'death with regret'-" i said

"If i wanted to, I could've killed them 8 times in these 3 years. Rome,Milan, Las Vegas- i followed them everywhere. All three of them could've been dead at least 8 times- if i really wanted it" i said

"Then why didn't you" he asked

"Because death is a really small punishment for them. Its more fun when i make their lives living hell and when they finally want death over it, when they're actually begging for it-  I don't give it to them" i said calmly

"How exactly did you do that?" He asked me and i smiled

"For that, we have to go two months in the past"

"Please please let me go" he said scared and i smirked

The muzzle of my gun was pointed on his forehead, and the bleeding man kneeled in front of me

"I will do anything" he said and i smiled

"Anything?" I asked

"Yes, please let me go" he said begging me

"Then tell me all that you know about Gabriel Gustavo" i said and his face went pale

He knew exactly what i was asking

"I don't know anything-" he lied and i scoffed

"Bulls*it. You've worked with him for 8 years now Antonio haven't you?" I said and he blinked at me

"How do you know all this-" he said, scared

"Oh i know a lot. I know about not just you, but your family as well" i said leaning a little towards him

Blood shot through his eyes and his throat went dry. He struggled to speak and i looked at him with almost no expression on my face

"So what will it be? Your loyalty to Gabriel or your loyalty to your family?" I asked him, gently cleaning the barrel of the gun in process

He thought about it, long.

"I don't have a lot of time you see" i said getting annoyed

"I just want to know what's special about today. Give me every detail you have" i said to him and he gulped

"You tell me that, and i let your family live" i said and he nodded

"Okay" he finally decided and took in a deep breath

He told me everything. Starting from the scratch- including every detail. Just how i wanted it

"Is that all?" I said and he nodded

"Usually you will need a code but you won't need one today" he said

"An invite?" I said and Andrew waved to me, the invitation in his hand visible

"Okay, thats good" i said getting up

"Now you will let me go right?" He asked me and i smirked

"I lied about that" i said pointing the barrel at him

"But-but you said"

"I said i am going to let your family live. Congratulations you just saved them by sacrificing yourself" i said as my finger hovered over the trigger

He begged me, completely and utterly helpless. But I didn't feel any sympathy

After all these years, i think i was incapable of feeling any human emotions except anger and hatred.

I pressed the trigger in an instant, and the bullet left the gun

It shot through his forehead and his lifeless body fell on the ground- blood pouring out like crazy

I tossed Andrew the gun and he tossed me a napkin to wipe my hands

"So, whats the plan" he asked me

"Get ready, we're going to a masked ball"
