My Favorite Incomplete Wish

Chapter 25- Spider

Lyra's POV
with everything going on with the revenge and my rising feelings for Arthur, i knew i had to chose one

Even though this revenge is always what I've wanted, I couldn't ignore the fact that i had something for this guy in my heart

And it was something special.

But as special as it was- it was also dangerous because for once, there was something else coming in between of my passion

And knowing that I would have to choose one- I decided to choose one today

"Arthur" i said softly, and he skimmed my face

His eyes were sparkly, his lips were a little parted and his face was needy

I moved closer to him, and he stared me down, not making a move

"You know-" i tried to speak but fell short on words

In this situation, what do you even say to someone?

"You don't have to speak" he said placing a finger on my lip, tracing it down

Even though no words were said, there was increasing tension and burning sensation glittering across my body

"I think-" i said this time, but my vibrating phone reminded me of my reality yet again

"I have to take this" i said as Andrew's name flashed on the screen and Arthur sighed

"Sorry" i whispered to him, answered the call and stepped away

"Yeah?" I said

"Lyra" Andrew said through the phone, and just his voice was making me nervous

"What's wrong?" I asked him, turning to Arthur who was already getting up- switching into his devil mode

"Its done" Andrew said after what felt like years, and a smile broke through my face

"Oh my god" i said as my heart overflowed with happiness and unsure of what to do with all these emotions, i quickly ended the call and  myself in Arthur's arms

"Oh" he held me just in time, picking me up like i weighed nothing

"He said everything went well" i said looking at Arthur, holding his face

"Thats amazing" he said smiling wide and i hugged him tightly

"Thank you for helping me" i mumbled in his embrace and he held me even tighter

"I'll always be there for you" he said softly and i stayed in his arms for some time

Before we pulled apart

And then for once, i thought that maybe i wouldn't have to chose

Melissa's POV
That night when i came back home, my eyes were puffy and i was obviously still sobbing

I stormed through the house, and immediately ran to my room- closing the door behind me

I ran to the bathroom and cried for a few minutes, overthinking everything

Why? Did she not trust me enough? Was it something i did wrong? Was it-

Was it because of Jacob?

As soon as this assumption crossed my mind, my tears stopped

It felt like a piece had connected, and now i felt angry instead of hurt

I felt angry at Jacob. Why did he have to involve himself with something he didn't even know about?

I quickly washed my face and fixed my appearance, and then walked outside with a determination within me

I need to confront him

As soon as i opened the bedroom door, my eyes were met with his

He looked like he just came back and that suspicioned me

"Melissa" Jacob said softly

"Jacob" i said a little annoyed

"Whats wrong babe? Why are you crying?" He tried to touch me but i moved back a little, and his hand stayed in the air for a second before he dropped it

"What happened?" He asked me again, his face serious

By now, i was still battling with myself if i should or should not confront him

Maybe he doesn't know anything and it was just a coincidence

even though I'm not a part of Lyra's plan now, i still can't reveal anything about her

"Nothing" i lied and stepped away so he could enter

He didn't force me, and walked inside the bathroom

I walked to the closet, changed and then made my way to bed

I waited for Jacob to come back, and when he did- he didn't come to me

Instead, he took his laptop and walked further towards the table

"are you not sleeping?" I asked him

"I have something urgent i need to complete" he said not turning around, his back on my sight

I didn't speak after, and instead slept

The next morning, i woke up to some ruffling outside

A little scared, i tiptoed my way towards the door and opened the door a little to peek through

I saw Jacob having an argument with someone

I tried seeing a little closely and almost gasped when i saw the face

It was Marco

"What do you mean the architectural firm is bankrupt?" Jacob said angrily and Marco snapped him a look

"Its that girl I don't know who- I'm sure she is behind all this" Marco said and my throat went dry

Shit. They know about Lyra

"No it can't be. I tried investigating on her, even sent her company a proposal to trip her off but she didn't show any suspicious behavior" Jacob argued and suddenly, i got the answer to why he contacted Lyra

"Then? Who is it?" Marco asked angrily

"It's spider" Jacob said and i furrowed my brows, trying to figure out the picture he was showing Marco

Whose spider? I thought as i tried to recall where i had heard this word

"Isn't that-?"

"Yes Thats Arthur Vinci AKA Spider"
