Present

"So this is what happened" i wrapped up my story and Daniel looked at me in disbelief

"That was something" Daniel said shocked, his face a thousand miles away from reality

"Honestly, I'm surprised you even came all the way here to turn yourself in" he said shocked

"I mean i said i wanted a clean slate, so you know-" i shrugged my shoulders

"You know i can put you behind bars right?" He said raising an eyebrow, a hint of sarcasm sparkling in his eyes

"You know i can get out right? I have-"

"Arthur Vinci, the one and only" Daniel raised his hands jokingly and i giggled

"I was going to say my power, but i guess that works" i smiled and he laughed a hearty laugh

"Well Lyra, I appreciate you coming here out of your way to confess your doings" Daniel stood up and i finally saw the sparkly badge he had on his left shoulder

'Daniel Stockwell- chief defective' it read

I don't even know why i decided to tell a detective everything, but i guess it made sense

Daniel had a long history of trying to get Gabriel and his mafia behind bars

We somehow crossed paths but then i never realised that i would come here and confess

"I think we're done here, you're free to go" Daniel closed his laptop and i smiled

"I hope to see you soon" i offered him my hand and he firmly shook it

"Clean slate, take it seriously this time Lyra" he said softly and i nodded

"Let me know if you need anything else" he opened the door for me and we got out of the plain small room

I once again stepped into the busy bustling of the city security department, after 4 dreadful hours of narrating

"So do you have someone to drop you off or-?"

"I'm here" Arthur's almost jealous voice reached me and i held in a good laugh

Daniel sighed and looked sideways, before looking at Arthur again

"Arthur" he said with a plain voice and both men gazed at each other

"I'll leave then" i broke the awkward silence and Daniel looked at me

"Of course, take care" he patted my shoulder and turned around to leave

He gave me one last smile before he disappeared behind his cabin door

I turned to look at Arthur who opened his wide shoulders for me and I immediately gave in

My head collided with his chest as he wrapped his hands around me and i sighed heavily in his embrace

"You did good, its over now" he patted my head softly and i nodded

We soon walked outside to his car, and he drove me home

The ride home was silent, but i was used to it

These past 2 days, we had this comforting silence between us

We had been spending a lot of time together, and i guess we both could tell that it was either the feeling for the rest of our lives or the worst heartbreak of mine

As Arthur pulled into my driveway, i looked at him softly and the car came to a halt

"I'll come by tonight" he said softly and i nodded

"Go and rest" he kissed my forehead and i soon got out of the car, waving him goodbye

It was midday by now so i decided to take a cold shower and then spent the rest of my time taking a nap

I don't know why, but midday naps be hitting different

Anyways, i regained my consciousness around sunset, and without thinking too much

I made my way down in the comfortable oversized sweat set i was wearing

I grabbed a water bottle from the kitchen and walked to the lounge room, sitting on the couch

I was about to open the TV when something glimmered in the garden and i caught it from the corner of my eye

"Wtf" i mumbled as i froze in my tracks, the most illogical and deadly scenarios crossing my mind

I grabbed a vase from my side and creeped outside

I shifted the glass door a little, and stepped into the dark garden

Why does it seem darker than usual? Where are the lights?

I tried to find the light switch, but kept stumbling over something in this darkness

"Oh-" i thought i found a switch, when someone's hand slipped around my shoulder

"Don't scream" Andrew whispered in my ear and i controlled my scream

I waited for a few seconds, and suddenly

The garden lights came on, depicting a beautiful garden set up decorated with black roses and fairy lights

"What is this?" I said confused as i looked around me

"Surprise" Andrew smiled and i looked at him

"Always be happy, you deserve it" he said patting me on the back and before i could think, he pushed me a little away from him

"Go now" he said and i smiled as i walked to the front

He disappeared from behind me as i further walked into the pathway, which lead to the small pond and wooden bridge

At the end of the bridge, i saw Arthur dressed up in a white formal shirt and pant, standing nervously

"What is all this?" I said giggling

"Lyra" he said nervously and i walked over to him, my dumbass still not comprehending shit

"I'm sorry that i have barely spoken to you these few days but i needed to make this moment special" he said as he held my hand

"I know we've only known each other for a few months but trust me when i say that i feel like i have known you for an eternity" he said

"I knew i wanted to spend the rest of my life with you the moment i saw you in that party, and now that i know you feel the same- i don't want to waste this precious time in these stupid speeches" he said letting go of my hand and taking a step back

"I know I'm being too reckless, but you are too good to be true for me- and its going to be foolish to let you go" he said as he went on his knees

Taking a ring out of the box

"So Lyra Harlow, will you marry me?" He asked me
