Lyra's POV
Present
"Wait so, this whole time you were teaming up with someone who killed your dad?" He asked me and i smiled
"You probably heard me wrong, Arthur never had a hand in that incident" i said calmly
"So then why does everyone think like that?" He asked confused
"Probably because, when i was trying to find the culprit- only his name could be used as a cover"
Few weeks ago
As i told everyone the story, they all looked at me equally shocked
Melissa was sincerely happy after finding out that Arthur was innocent
Andrew was a bit confused and suspicious, but the tension from his face had seemingly disappeared
And Arthur- that guy was grateful
He looked like he would literally kiss me right now- wait what?
Scratch that.
He looked like he would literally burst into happiness- yes that sounds right
"Wait Melissa, how did you know about this whole situation?" I asked Melissa once everyone had recovered and she smiled at me
"From Jacob" she said
"Yeah that doesn't really explain much. If you're really trying to flex about your million dollar husband then we don't-"
"Jacob is involved with Marco" Melissa cut through Arthur, giving him a side eye
"What?" Andrew said confused
"Did you guys do something to Marco? Something regarding his architectural firm?" She asked and i looked at Andrew and he gave me a look
I nodded and he sighed
"Yes" he said
"I disguised myself as a representative from Lyra's company, and went to the meeting where a tender was presented" Andrew explained
"Marco's representative was also there, and according to the plan- i laid out a tough act where i started bidding a good amount for the tender, but made sure that Marco's representatives keep up" He said
"They obviously knew who i was, and Lyra told me that Marco would definitely ask them to get the tender no matter what- so poor guys kept bidding and bidding" he said
"Until"
"They exceeded the limit of the profit and the tender's value clashed with the company" Arthur explained
"So they went bankrupt in simple words" i said and Melissa nodded in understanding
"Thats why Marco looked so mad" she mumbled
"Did you meet with him?" I asked confused
"He met with Jacob this morning" she said and then explained us the whole thing
As the story came to an end, i looked at Arthur knowingly
"This explains why Jacob sent you that proposal" he said
"He was basically working for Marco" Arthur said a little angry
"Well seems like we dodged the bullet this time because Marco and Jacob don't doubt Lyra" Melissa said
"Then who?" I furrowed my brows and Melissa's eyes traveled to Arthur
"Me?" He said in disbelief and Melissa nodded
"They think you're the one behind everything" she explained
"But why me?" He asked confused
"Maybe because you helped me on the revenge with Victoria, and with Jacob and everyone digging through this- it probably made sense since you have known ties to Mafia" i explained and he sighed
"These dumb fuc-" Arthur said in anger but i gave his hand a squeeze to stop him
"Im sorry" he said sheepishly to Melissa
"Its okay, i hate it too" she said
"You do?" Andrew asked
"Why wouldn't i? My husband is involved with Mafia, and is trying to involve himself with something that doesn't concern him" she said with a little hatred
"Of course it troubles me knowing he is involved with everything" she said
"Which is why I've decided" she said and looked at me
"No matter what you say, i will be a part of this revenge and help you bring down Marco and dad. Once and for all"
