Chapter 14-The Attack

Lyra's POV

Present

"Wait wait, i thought you weren't trying to get recognized. If you burn down a building- you're obviously going to expose yourself" he argued and i smiled

I leaned a little closer and dropped my voice to almost a whisper

"Thats the whole point" i said and he looked at me confused

"I don't understand"

"its about time that i make my grand entry"

2 months ago

"Are we all set?" I asked Arthur as i walked over to him

He turned around as he dismissed his men, and looked at me

"Yes, all set" he said smiling

"I have a good feeling" Melissa walked over to us

"I just got off the phone, and apparently there was an exhibition yesterday so the art museum is closed for today- which is great because there isn't anyone there" she said

"If there was an exhibition, shouldn't half of her paintings already have been sold and shipped away?" Arthur asked

"Yes but apparently they got in more stock last night, maybe to restock her collection" Andrew walked over to us as he ended a call and put his phone aside

"I have inside information. The newest painting she got is from this really famous artist and just that painting is worth more than half a million dollars" Andrew said excitedly

"Perfect" i sighed

"So, when does this all happen?" Melissa asked

"Tonight, around 9" i said and Arthur nodded

"I'm going to go with my guys and we're going to make sure that everything goes smoothly" Arthur said

"I'm going to go with you on this one" i said and he looked at me, not with much approval

For a few seconds, we held that intense eye contact as i silently convinced him that yes i was indeed going with him and finally

"Okay" he gave up and i smiled

"Melissa and Andrew- you guys can rest on this one because the next one is going to be hectic" i said and they both nodded

"Well then I'd like to go back home" Melissa said and i nodded

"Ofcourse, you have a family to spend time with" i smiled

Soon, we were off our separate ways with Andrew going to the gym and Melissa going to her house

Arthur followed me to my study, and we both knew he was mad

As soon as i closed the study door behind me, he looked at me worried

"Lyra you can't go with me" he argued

"I think you forgot. This was all my idea- i should be there" i argued back and he sighed

"I know, i know. But this can be dangerous" he said

"Well I don't care- I've waited all this time for these moments" i said

"You don't know what gas they're going to use to burn the building, maybe it can spread super fast and put you at risk or maybe-"

"Since when did you become the over thinker type Arthur? We all know thats not going to happen" i said and he closed his mouth

He went silent for what seemed like hours, and then finally

"I just don't want something bad happening to you" he said softly and i was taken aback by his words

I looked at him and he gazed back at me with soft eyes that had so much to say

"I can take care of myself" I quickly said and he cleared his throat, both of us walking away from each other

We spent the rest of our time in different corners of the room

He was on his laptop the whole time while i went through some important papers and contracts to sign

Soon, it was sunset and time was getting closer

"I think its time" i set my pen on the desk, taking a deep stretch

"If you are going, then i want to make sure you're prepared for the worst" he said as he got up

"Do you have weapons?" He asked me and i nodded

I led him to the first floor and we took a left

I got to the glass doors and placed my hand on it

Soon, the doors opened in front of us and we walked inside one of my favorite places
