Lyra's POV
I woke up the next morning, with fazed memory of last night
Deciding to not think too much about it, i got up and went to the bathroom
This morning- i felt different
I felt happier and livelier, and so i took my time doing everything
Later, i came out and felt my phone buzzing
"Hello?" I picked up the phone
"Lyra, we have a response" Andrew's voice reached me and i sighed
"What is it?" I asked, my heart holding onto itself in suspense
"Its what you wanted" he said and a smile spread across my face
"Let me tell everyone about it" i said
"Okay, I'm on my way there anyways" he said and ended the call
I immediately called Melissa and Arthur, telling them the news
Soon, i was in the kitchen making coffee for everyone and one by one, they all showed up
Arthur was the last to show up, and he looked tired
He smiled faintly at me and i smiled back- a weird feeling forming inside my head
We all sat down in the lounge room and talked about what happened last night and the response Andrew received
"She ordered her men to pull out some camera footage" Andrew said
"But the cameras were broken obviously so she got a bit tense" he added
"Then i anonymously delivered her a letter that said that i know about her tax fraud schemes and will expose it to the world" he said
"And in response- just like we wanted, she gave in and started begging me to keep it a secret" he said and i nodded
"So how about we ask her to help us get to Marco?" Melissa said
"I don't think we should yet" Arthur refuted her
"Yeah, i think its too early. If we immediately negotiate with her, she might think we're just bluffing" i added
"We need to scare her more, and make her fear us so that she knows we're more than just bluffing" Andrew said as we all looked at each other
"And how are we going to do that?" Melissa said
"Leave that to me. I will haunt her so much that she will start seeing me in her dreams" Andrew said a little angrily
"Are you sure you got this?" Arthur asked
"Yes- i will tell you guys when i have her on her knees and ready to use in our favor" he said firmly and i smiled
"Okay then, you got this one" i said to him
"Its going to take a couple days, but till then we can keep low and let the rumor spread a little so people can sense the trouble" Arthur said and i nodded, getting up
Soon, we all got busy doing something
Melissa went to her room to set it up a little, whereas Andrew went to his house in order to proceed with the blackmailing
Me and Arthur were left alone and that silence was indeed awkward
"So" i initiated conversation and Arthur looked at me
"Do you want to go for a night out tonight?" He asked me suddenly and i blinked at him
"Night out? Where?" I asked
"A club" he said
"Where is it" i asked and he eyed me
"Its his own club" Melissa's voice reached my ears and i saw her walking over to us
"You own a club?" I asked
"Yes he does and he doesn't ask anyone to come over. I think you should feel special" Melissa joked and i looked at Arthur
"So is it a yes?" He asked me and i looked at Melissa
"Are you coming?" I asked her
"I can't. I have to go back to Jacob's house for some time" she said, but i knew she was lying
I didn't insist and she didn't say anything else
"Okay" i said and Arthur smiled
"I'll pick you up around 8 then" he said and took his leave
Both me and Melissa followed him with our gaze until he was out of the front door
"How about we go shopping till then?" She asked me and the word shopping made me feel excited
"Yes please" i said and soon, we were driving to the mall
"I have so many things i want to buy" she said and i smiled, happy to see her being her old self
We went through almost all the stores, and after a few hours, we were exhausted
With all the bags in our hands, we walked to a nearby table and sat down
"That was a workout" Melissa giggled as she placed her bags on the floor
"Im glad we did it, i missed hanging out with you" she said holding my hand in hers, giving it a gentle squeeze
"Me too" i said to her but her gaze travelled behind me
I followed her and turned around to see a familiar face walking over to us
"Jacob"
