Lyra's POV
I don't know what time we got back, but it was pitch black

"Careful" Arthur walked me through the stairs as i stumbled in the dark

"Which one's your room?" He whispered to me and i pointed in the direction

We took the left and soon ended up in my room

"Here" he sat me down on the bed and i took my shoes off

"Let me" he kneeled down instantly, his slight touch causing spark in my entire body

"I'm not a two year old, I'm sure i can handle taking shoes off" i laughed and he smiled

"You just seem too happy, I don't want to break away that moment from you" he said as he put my shoes on the side, removing my hat and mask

He helped me lay down and i looked at him softly

"What" he asked me

"Why are you helping me?" I finally asked him- the question whose answer both me and you were probably dying to know

"We can talk about that later" he said tugging me in

He got up, but his avoidance seemed a little suspicious

I held his hand, and he turned around

"Tell me" i said, my voice a little calmer now

I wasn't smiling anymore and he sensed it too that something wasn't right

He sat on the edge of my bed and held my hand

"I'm helping you because your revenge helps me" he said in a calm tone

His words seemed genuine and my heart relaxed a little

"So there's nothing shady or a plan you're going to make behind my back?" I asked and he chuckled, dropping his head low

"Ah you really think i can stoop that low?" He laughed as he said

"I don't, i think you've been nothing but selfless towards me" i said and his laughter died down

"Well, i have my reasons. It all benefits me too" he said

"Bringing down important mafia figures only helps me climb the ladder, become stronger and fearful. Imagine what happens when the underworld hears that i was involved in bringing them all down" he said and his words made a lot of sense

So much sense, that it made me feel stupid

Because what was i even expecting? Was i expecting something different?

"Anyways, i think you're sleepy- you should rest" he said placing his hand on my cheek comfortably

I gave his hand a gentle squeeze and he got up

"I'll see you tomorrow" he winked and then walked outside without another word

As he closed the door behind him, i saw his faint smile and sparkly eyes shining towards me- and with all that, came a confession from my heart

'I like you'

Arthur's POV
As soon as i left her room, i felt a weird feeling in my heart

It was beating faster, and kind of saddened

But why was i sad? We burned down the building according to the plan and everything was perfect, so why was i sad?

I decided not to think too much about it and made my way outside the house

As i sat back inside the car and fastened my seatbelt, my gaze landed on the passenger seat where she was sitting a few hours ago

The memories came rushing back and i found myself getting drawn into them

'Snap out Arthur- what the hell is wrong with you' my brain reminded me and i took in a deep sigh

I can't help it. She does things to my heart that i can neither understand nor control

"I need to get my mind off it- or its going to make me crazy" i said to myself as i pressed on the accelerator and the car roared out of the driveway

I was at my home in a few minutes, tired as hell

I immediately went to bed, and even in my sleep- I just couldn't stop thinking about her

The next morning, i woke up to my phone going constantly off

"Ugh what the hell" i picked it up

"Bad time is it?" Her voice reached my ears and i immediately got up, the last of the sleep slipping away

"No uh" i tried to reason but it was too late

She laughed and i got quite

"I'm sorry to disturb your sleep Spider but do you mind coming to my place as soon as you can?" She asked and i furrowed my brows

"Is everything okay?" I asked her, already getting out of bed

"We have a response from Victoria"
