Chapter 36- Her

Lyra's POV
The whole time that i was getting ready, from taking a shower to slipping on my heels- i had this weird feeling in my heart

'what if she never forgives me?' A voice echoed in my brain and i stopped in my tracks

I slightly thought about it and then convinced myself that wouldn't happen

And even if it would, i have decided to not care

It was almost sunset by now and i was extremely late, so i ran to my car

Once i had settled down and hit the road, my brain occupied itself with a conversation of its own

Soon, the gps indicated the arrival and i picked up my phone

I texted Melissa about my arrival as i pulled into her driveway and soon, a smiling Melissa walked out the front door

"Hey" she said excitedly as i got out of the car and gave her a hug

"You look beautiful" she said taking in my outfit and i smiled under her gaze

I looked at her until the smile from her face dropped and i furrowed my brows

"What's wrong?" I asked her

"Its finally hitting me that everything is about to end, you're not going to stay here after everything are you?" She said suddenly and i blinked

"About that" i tried to form sentences and she just looked at me

"Can we go inside?" I said trying to make time and she snapped out of her thoughts

"Oh I'm really sorry, lets go inside" she held my arm and i followed her steps inside the house

We walked through the hallway by a staircase and she led us through the glass doors inside the garden

The garden was humungous but it was beautifully decorated with flowers and a pool by the corner

We sat down on the chairs by the pool and she disappeared to get something to drink

My eyes wandered around the place as a feeling surrounded me and i looked around for a pair of eyes

"I feel like someone is looking at me" i muttered as a shiver ran across me and i crossed my arms to numb the feeling

"Whats that?" Melissa came in with a tray in her hands

"Nothing" i shook my head as she settled the tray on the table

I took a sip of the refresher and an instant smile formed on my face

"So" Melissa looked at me anticipated and i tried to buy even more time

God Lyra just say it

"So uh i talked with Andrew this afternoon" i started saying

"Uh huh and?"

"And i think we're pretty much done with the revenge" i said

Melissa looked at me with a smile until my words hit her and her smile faded

"So you're about to get to my dad?" She said and i nodded, a little slowly

I watched her expressions turn into nothing and I couldn't figure out her thoughts

I waited impatiently as she sorted her thoughts

"Im not going to stop you, but I can't help you either" she said finally and it was like weight had been removed from my shoulders

"I know my dad has done horrible things to you and your family, so i obviously won't prevent you from getting your revenge. I can't even imagine the pain you have gone through all these years" she said holding my hand softly

I smiled at her words. I was thinking she was going to hate me forever but here she was sympathizing with me

"what did i even do to deserve you?" I said and she giggled and soon we both laughed

"I like that smile of yours Lyra, don't ever let someone take it away" she said and my laughter died down

A part of my heart ached as my lies echoed in my ears, but i maintained a neutral face

"Do you want to have dinner? Let me treat you" Melissa quickly changed the subject

"Oh there's no need, i have plans already" i said softly and she smiled

"We can plan a long day together once all this is over" i said to her and she nodded

"I will wait for it"  she said

"I will leave then" i said and she followed me to the front door

As soon as i walked to my car and sat down, the weird feeling of someone looking at me came again

This time, i shook it away and drove out of the driveway- to meet Arthur
