Chapter 46-Eventually, it all ends

Lyra's POV
"Arthur" i said, my voice barely audible

"Lyra" Arthur said shakily, as Gabriel tried to free himself

I looked at him for the longest time, feeling all the gratitude in the world

I didn't realise how much he meant to me, only my heart's fierce beating did

My eyes trailed to behind him, and i saw Melissa walking

She had pain portrayed all over her face, and thats when it hit me

"You guys heard everything?" I said softly and she nodded

She walked to me, glancing at her dad

"Melissa Lyra is a kil-er she's-"

"I know what she is, she is a girl who didn't deserve all that you guys put her through. And she's a woman, who fought for her own sanity- having to prove to people like you that her life mattered" Melissa said, her voice firm

I looked at her in disbelief, I didn't expect her to support me

"And even though I'm mad at her for keeping this from me, I can't ignore the fact that i went through similar things. Hers are just worse" she said looking at me, and a small smile appeared on my face

Marco's growl on the floor made me snap out of my thoughts, and i sat on my knees in order to meet his height

"So Marco, i really hope there aren't any hard feelings" i said this time through gritted teeth, grabbing his gun from the side

"You wouldn't do that" he said and i smiled

"Oh trust me" i said putting it against his forehead

I looked at Arthur and a stunned Gabriel, debating how to end it

"Lets end this quick?" I said raising an eyebrow and Gabriel scoffed

"You're a devil Lyra" Gabriel yelled behind me and my emotions took the best of me

I removed the gun from Marco's forehead and got up

"You're right. I forgot about that" i said and looked at Arthur

I looked at Melissa and she knew what i was going to say

"I don't care what you do to this guy. He ruined everyone" she said looking at Gabriel

"All that power and you couldn't win your own daughter's support" i said looking at his horrifying face

"Well have all the regrets in hell" i said as Arthur pushed Gabriel to the floor

Melissa gave me a nod and then walked outside

"You want to stay?" He asked me and i nodded

"Why does it smell like oil" Marco spat out blood from his mouth, and i watched Arthur pull out a lighter from his pocket

Marco and Gabriel looked at him horrified, and then their eyes hit realisation

"You wouldn't" Gabriel said trying to get up

"A devil's doing their work" i said kicking him to the ground again

I glanced above me as the charter plane flew over the building, spraying the chemical

"It was fun knowing you, for a short while" i said as i took a step back and Arthur lit the lighter

Just the small burn from that thing gave my heart peace and my eyes warmth

I was enjoying that moment very well, and just the building anticipation of having this place burnt down was giving my heart the long awaited satisfaction

"NO" Gabriel yelled and suddenly, a door burst open

"Fu-k" Arthur duck his head and i realised the door had flown open

"Who the fu-"

I couldn't complete my words, as i saw Jacob rushing inside

"Uh oh" Arthur grabbed my hand and we ran to the other side

Jacob pulled out a gun and shot openly without aiming

"Mother-" Marco yelled as he dodged a bullet, getting up himself

Jacob helped Gabriel get up, and the two instantly shared information

Everyone was armed, but everyone was hiding

"Do you have a gun?" Arthur said and i nodded in disagreement

"You need to leave first then" he said pushing me further away from the scene

"No, we're going to leave together" i said as i clenched onto his chest

"I'm not leaving" i said and he looked at me softly

In the midst of this chaos, my eyes found his and i got lost in them

"You're going to get hurt" he said

"Its fine, my life doesn't matter anymore" i said

"Lyra please"

"Arthur, I'm not leaving without you" i stood my ground and Arthur sighed

"Take my gun, i have another weapon" he said handing me his gun

It was his personal weapon, since it had his initials

"I wont lose it I promise" i said checking for bullets

"Doesn't matter, don't hurt yourself though" he said

I slowly got out of the hiding spot, and out of the corner of my eye i felt someone run

I aimed at them, but the person went by so fast that i lost sight

"Ugh" i tried to find someone but the place was suddenly mad empty

There was not a single soul here

"Lyra here" Arthur grabbed my waist, lifting me off the floor and aiming to run outside

I was caught off guard but I didn't say anything and let him do his thing

We almost made it outside, when someone's gun loaded behind me

"Stop" i whispered and Arthur froze in his tracks

He put me down and i turned around, the gun still in my hand

"We meet again" Jacob said, his gun pointing to my chest

"Ah Jacob, always on the wrong side" i said casually mocking him

"Arthur" he said and Arthur eyed him

"How did he get out" Arthur mumbled under his breath

"Wondering how i got out? well it seems like you're not the only one with connections" Jacob mocked Arthur whose eyes turned darker hearing this

"Arthur and Lyra" Jacob said, his fingers clenching the gun

"It was so fun knowing you guys, i wish we had met sooner" he said loading the gun

"Don't-" Marco got out of his spot and all eyes turned to him

"Why?" Jacob said confused and i took that as my cue to run

"Because thats my kill" Gabriel appeared from in front of me, firing the gun in his hand

In that moment, everything around me stopped

For a second, nothing was said and nothing was done

I slowly drifted my eyes to my chest, which had seemingly gotten heavy

I placed a shaking hand on my lower abdomen, and as expected, my hand was covered with my own blood
