Lyra's POV
the rest of the night went on smoothly, with me and Arthur having drinks and getting to know each other
"I think its time" he said as the clock hit 12, indicating the end of our bonding session
"Its been so long since i had a drink like this, it feels weird" i said as i placed the glass on the table and got up
I don't know how, but the alcohol got to me and I stumbled on my own step
"Careful" Arthur placed his arm around my waist, helping me stand straight
"Im okay" i held his arm as I straightened my posture and got a hold of myself
"Are you sure you can walk?" He asked me and i side eyed him
"I meant like you've had a couple drinks" he corrected himself and i smiled
"Are you challenging me?" I asked excitedly, the alcohol obviously having crazy effects on me
"No no, just asking" he raised his hands in surrender and i laughed
"You're so scared of me" i said jokingly
"I'm scared of how competitive you can be, you can even make me feel insecure" he said tugging a strand of hair behind my ear
"I'll drop you home, c'mon" he said and we walked outside together
He walked us through a different exit, and we soon ended up in the same place as before
He waved to the valet guy and he quickly bought the car
He helped me sit down and soon we were off
"Can we not go home yet?" I asked a little disappointed
"Where else do you want to go?" He asked me, his eyes on the road
"I don't know, i just don't want to call it a night yet" i said
"Then i have a place in mind" he said and I didn't protest
He took the next u turn and revved the engine through the empty roads
Soon, we were driving along the sea shore, and just the calming waves bought me peace
"Fresh air" i mumbled and he opened the sunroof of the car, the wind suddenly blowing across my hair
"This feels so amazing" i said as i closed my eyes and felt the wind
Slowly, the car came to a halt and we got out of the car, stepping into the chilly sand
With my heels in my hand, i walked through the sand like a happy kid, and as i got near the water- my excitement grew
"You're such a kid" Arthur chuckled behind me as i playfully walked through the water, my giggles echoing through the air
"Let me have some fun" i pouted and he laughed, tilting his face away
I looked at him- his perfect face through which the moonlight reflected in this dark night
The almost brown hair, the perfect jawline and nose- he literally looked unreal under this dark sky
A feeling in my heart awakened, and another one immediately followed
"LYRA" her voice suddenly echoed in my ear and i furrowed my brows in inconvenience
"LYRA HELP ME" she yelled again and the odd feeling grew deeper in my heart, overcoming other parts of my body
My eyes got watery, my hands a little shaky
"Shit" i muttered as i realized my knees were shaking horribly
