Toby closes the door and examines the envelope. Walking back to the kitchen
"What's the case?" I question
He opens it and pulls out the large stack of papers.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I yell when I see the name
"Why, why are they doing this?" Toby asks in such soft, hurt tone
"Let me see" I say as I take the papers from him,
I start to skim the first couple of pages.
I scoff "they are suing you for emotional distress, pain and suffering and for Contributory Negligence"
"I don't understand how they could do this, it's not my fault" he says as he stares blankly
"They are saying for contributory negligence that although you swerved to avoid an accident you still caused an accident that caused Yvonne's pain, suffering and injuries that caused her death and caused the premature birth of your baby. For emotional distress and pain and suffering they are linked, it's all due to the loss of Yvonne caused by your direction of the car when you swerved" I explain
"This is fucking bullshit!" He yells
"I know babe, I know and we will fight this. I know myself or my mom can't be on this case but I'm gonna get someone to defend you. This isn't gonna go far" I tell him
"I, I just need a minute" he says as he gets up, grabs his keys and phone and heads outside.
For fuck sakes we were just putting this behind him.
I hear a ping on my phone and get up to check it.
