I did take some liberties for vampire lore but thats okay bc im the author and this is a world i made up in my head

"What're you doing walking all alone, sugar?"

If I was just a little bit smarter a chill would go up my spine. "Walking, dipshit." I smile.

"Isn't it a little dangerous? To be alone at this hour?"

"It's not dangerous when I'm the danger." I push him down an alleyway. His eyes widen a little and I go for his neck. He tried to fight me off but I did get the jump on him. He's stronger than he looks and I wasn't expecting that,so I end up on the ground with him twisting my arm behind my back.

"You should come up with some new one liners. That one was shit." He gets off me and helps me to my feet. "So I take it I'm not the only vampire in this city?"

"No I'm human, I'm just uhh... damn alright yeah I'm a vampire."

"Gerard." He holds out his hand.

Oh fuck I gotta tell him my name now. "Shawn."

If he knew my real name... I'll be dead before I can finish saying my last name. Vampires aren't really allowed to spare people, so when i saved a literal twelve year old from another vampire it got a target on my back. Yeah maybe i kill people, but at least i don't kill children! Theyre fucking kids!

"Now shut up about my one liners. It's not like whoever hears it is gonna be able to tell anyone."

He holds his hands up in mock surrender. "Okay, okay, well how about I teach you some new one liners over drinks?"

"Drinks or," I gesture to my neck. "Drinks."

"Which do you want? I've heard hunting in pairs work better."

"How about we start with normal drinks, coffee? I know a place that's still open."

He agrees and we start walking. Wait what the fuck am i doing? If i stick around him too long he's gonna figure out who i am! Word spreads quick around here, and when one of us "betrays" our kind it gets around.

"Hey man, I'm really sorry, I just remembered uhh... I gotta go." wow dude. Good excuse.

"Oh uh.. Could i get your number?"

"Don't have a phone!" I walk away fast enough that he's definitely a little suspicious. Goddamn it. I knew I should have fled the state. A nice small town with a shitty police force in the middle of nowhere? I could wipe that thing out within a matter of weeks.

How did I not recognize this hunter? I guess they do kinda blend together.

"Oh please, i bet you were dying to get your blood sucked. And maybe your dick before hand if you're nice."

The guy looks a little taken aback by what I say , giving me the perfect opportunity to sink my fangs into his neck. He struggles at first but as the venom sinks in and the blood drains from his body he stops struggling.

"Never thought i'd see you again."

Oh no. I know that voice.

"Well you see..." I take off running.
