It's a ritual where brides seek the blessings of the Suhagan to enjoy a long-lasting marriage, who are considered as the female ancestors who have passed away as Sumangalis (Suhagan) are remembered and their blessings are sought. Five or seven women along with two kanyas (girls who have not attained puberty) are called for the pooja and they are offered oil, herbal powder shampoo for hair, turmeric, and vermillion. 9-yard silk sarees are offered to them and requested to be seated for the pooja. To make the event more lively they even sing songs. They are treated to a feast. All the gathered ladies of the family and bride will do a Namaskaram (a gesture to greet seeking goodwill) to all the Suhagan and the Kanyas who in turn bless the family and the bride.

Evening was Mehendi, and Sana was the most excited for this, she dressed herself with light green sleeveless Kurti and capri's she was looking gorgeous. Everyone complimented her and Kajal also came in to participate in sangeet with them for some time. Monty Di, as she was training in beautician course and tried her makeup skills on her. Sana's friend and cousin everyone applied mehendi, dancing around in Hindi and Tamil beats. It was an ambience of fun and enjoyment. Subbu was busy doing chores and last minute financial transactions. Appa and Amma were busy taking care of guests and hospitality. Sana applied hands full and legs full of Henna with the latest design. Sid loves Mehendi and she made sure to fill every part of her hands and legs with it.

Next day was Mangala Snaanam (auspicious/purifying bath). Turmeric, sandalwood paste ubtan was applied to both Sana and Sid in there respective home. After this application, they were made to take a bath in holy water and get ready for the wedding rituals. Turmeric is a disinfectant as well as a natural beautifier. The holy water is said to cleanse the body and souls making the bride and groom ready for a new life together. House was decorated beautifully with with fresh flowers and this added grandeur to the ritual. Vedic mantras were recited in Sana's house the way Tamil Brahmin marriage rituals should be in order to sanctify the bride and preparing her for the upcoming challenges of married life. Surya (Sun God) and Varuna (Water God) are invoked to purify the bride and making her 'spiritually ready' for the wedding.
