-William-

William sent word to his father telling him that he had found Jade and where they were located. Hopefully his father had cleared Jade's name by now but the only thing he could do now was wait.

That evening William wasn't surprised why Jade had been so angry with him in the beginning or why she had been so homesick. He even understood why she had tried to run away. Her family was so warm and they truly seemed to enjoy each other's company.

All of them were sitting around the table, and compared to his own family, this one talked to one another. There were no jabs or snide comments being conveyed in any way. The family just talked and laughed at what the others said.

Jade's mother babbled on about how excited she was to have them both there. William had never felt more welcome than he did right now. Jade's father, however, was not as excited as his wife. He had given his wife a quite displeased look when she had made sure that their daughter and William was sitting next to each other at dinner. William had given Jade a questioning look when he had noticed their wordless quarrel, but she had just rolled her eyes at her father's behavior and mouthed 'don't mind him'.

During dinner William felt the happiest he had ever been. For once he felt like nothing could touch Jade. He still wanted to take her back to his own castle in the north, but he wouldn't deny that she was probably the absolute safest now than she had ever been. Here, Jade was protected by her father, Loren and himself.

This was not something he shared out loud with her though. She would probably give him a pair of questioning icy blue eyes and one of those dark eyebrows would most definitely be raised at him.

She probably considers herself more than capable of defending herself... He thought and looked at her when no one saw him. It felt him with such joy to see her like this. How he wished that she had been this happy in the castle... It had pained him so much seeing her so insecure and afraid of everything that moved close to her. It wasn't strange though. He took her from all safety she had ever known and expected her to just be fine with it.

William studied her quickly before being scorched by her father's protective gaze. Her hair was in a braid that rested on her right shoulder and some strands around her face had ripped free from the updo. She was still wearing the clothes that Loren had bought for her so she would blend in more. The guard had explained this choice in garments to William when they had had a moment in privacy.

The black shirt was quite revealing, and it had a very nice and ample cleavage that gave William a hint of her breasts. Not to mention the trousers she wore, they hugged her thighs and her well-rounded backside. William had to force himself to think of everything else in order to keep his body in control as soon as Jade walked past him. He wouldn't mind if she kept those trousers even when this was all over.

"If you do not mind me asking, your grace, why has the wedding been delayed?" Jade's mother suddenly asked, and William ripped his eyes off her daughter. He met the woman's eyes with a hint of embarrassment spreading through his body. He just hoped she hadn't seen him stare at her daughter.

"Don't call him that, mother." Jade interrupted before William spoke. William scoffed in a quick laughter.

"Funny, I think I have told you that ever since we met, and you still do it" He playfully reprimanded her. It earned him a wry smile and a wink, and it made his heart skip a beat.
