I woke with a start and saw the time was 12:45 in the afternoon. I looked across the room groggily and saw Harley fast asleep on her bed. I was about to wake her but thought better of it, after all, it was me who kept her awake all night to begin with. I looked over in the mirror and saw I was still in the brides maid dress, but I looked a little more rested than before. I watched my reflection reach for the sapphire around my neck as I felt the cool silver chain against my palm. The feeling of the necklace made me feel a tug in my heart, how was Scorpius? Did he get any sleep? I quickly crawled out of bed, changed into pajama shorts and a t-shirt, and went to my trunk at the edge of my bed. I pulled out the folded parchment and unfolded it to see it was still blank. I walked to my desk, dipped my quill, and began to write.
"Dear Scorpius, I am so sorry... That was not how it was suppose to go at all. Albus will cool down eventually, and my dad can get over it. How are you? Did you sleep at all? What happened when you got home? Are you safe? I'm so worried, please respond! I love you...
-thinking of you, RW"
I wiped a random tear from the edge of my eye and re-read the letter. I know he might not be able to respond, but I'm going to hope, and trust he might contact me. I folded the letter once more, I was not going to erase the message just in case he hadn't seen it yet. I walked to my window, a beautiful sun ray was flooding into my room, with the shadow of the large oak tree silhouetting into the room. The sky was clear and blue, truly beautiful. All it did was fill me with sadness, I could be spending the day with Scorpius. Maybe I could show him the pond that was near my house? I'm sure he'd enjoy it, with all the fish? I made myself smile at the thought of Scorpius trying to catch a fish with his bare hands, his pants rolled up to his knees as he stands bare foot in the water of the pond. "Rose? You ok?" I heard someone mumble. I turned around and saw Harley was awake and rubbing sleep from her eyes. I nodded my head, "yea I'm fine." I said quietly. She looked apprehensively at me, but didn't ask further. I turned back to my window and looked at the tall oak tree. Scorpius and I were chasing each other, throwing snowballs, just six months ago. In this very tree. Which now that I think about it, probably wasn't the safest thing to do. And now he's with his father for an entire summer probably, in more danger then any before. I know what his father does to him, and the thought makes me sick! I gripped my wall, leaning on it for support. "Your thinking about him again, aren't you?" Harley asked. I straighten up and tried to look indifferent. "Yea, I am." I tried to say the words nonchalantly, but I heard the pain in my voice. I quickly turned around and forced a smile. "So, what should we do today?" I asked. Harley looked at me suspiciously, "well I was hoping to talk to Albus." She said slowly, watching my reaction. My smile strained at the idea of seeing my cousin again, after all I had said, after all he'd said. "Oh really? Um- cool." I said awkwardly. "Please? You don't have to say anything, you don't even have to be in the same room!" She pleaded. I sighed heavily, "yea, alright." I mumbled. Harley smiled gratefully at me and jumped out of bed and began getting dressed. I pulled on jean shorts and left the t-shirt on, put my messy hair in a bun and waited for Harley to be finished. When she was done, her long black hair was in a sleek pony tail, she had capris and a black tank top on, along with black ballet flats. Her light brown eyes filled with worry. "Harley, your going to be fine. You know how Albus gets with you, I don't think he could let you go if his life depended on it." I said firmly. She smiled weakly, but she was still picking at her nails, which she does when she's worried. We ran downstairs and walked into the living room to see a few family members. Dominique, Lily, and Hugo were sitting on the couch together, whispering quietly. Once they saw me they quickly shut up. "Morning." I mumbled. Hugo looked at me and smiled, I knew he didn't care about Scorpius and I. Lily was looking at me intently, and shrugged her shoulders, proving she didn't care. But Dominique looked at me with tear filled eyes. "Oh Rosie! I'm so sorry!" She wailed before she threw her arms around me, taking me by surprise. "For what!?" I asked in shock, my eyes wide. She let me go and wiped her eyes, it's not fair that she can look so pretty while crying, veela blood in her I guess. "You should have told me! I wouldn't have flirted with him so much if I'd known he was yours! Oh Rosie! It's just like Romeo and Juliet isn't it?" She said breathlessly, her eyes filled with excitement. I looked at her with wide eyes, "I hope not!" I said in surprise. Dominique frown, "but why not? It's forbidden, and I can assume you love each other right?" She asked, crossing her arms. I felt my face heat up. "Oh- um- I mean- oh it's not like Romeo and Juliet because I have no desire to kill myself! And he better not either." I whispered the last part. Dominique smiled at me sadly. Feeling officially weird, "okay, I'm going to go now." I added firmly, stepping around my cousin and walking to the fire place. Harley and I stepped in together, threw the powder down, and yelled "Potter house hold!" together. I felt the tug around my navel and a jolt. I felt a pain in my elbow as I knocked into Harley, suddenly we were tumbling out of the fire place coughing up dust and soot. "I. Hate. The floo network." I coughed out each word. "Rosie? Harley?" I looked up and saw my aunt Ginny, standing on the bottom step of the stairs that led upstairs from the living room, she looked worried. "Hey aunt Ginny. What's up?" I sighed heavily, helping Harley to her feet. "I heard a noise- what are you girls doing here? Have you heard from your father or uncle!?" She added quickly, immediately perking up and looking hopeful and worried at the same time. I rubbed the back of my head awkwardly. "Erm- no actually... We came to see Albus." I said apologetically. My aunt looked crest fallen and nodded her head. "I see. Well he's up stairs.." She said with a weak smile. My aunt was very pretty, her long red hair in a pony tail, but she looked so sad, so upset. She turned to go back up stairs but I couldn't stop myself in time. "Aunt Ginny!" I called quickly. She stopped and looked back at me hopefully. "I'm sorry- you know... For everything." I said firmly. My aunt Ginny frowned and shook her head. "No Rosie, you have nothing to apologize for, don't ever think this is your fault." She said firmly, giving me a genuine smile, then walking back upstairs. "So much dramatic tension lately huh?" Harley said lightly, making me laugh and shove her softly. "Come on." I said reluctantly as I began to walk upstairs in search of Albus. We reached the first door in the hallway, I stared at it in hesitation. I glanced at Harley as she stepped forward and knocked on the door three times. We heard a shuffle of feet, and a muffled sound, "Mom, I told you I don't really want to talk about-." He stopped talking once he opened the door and saw Harley and I. He stared at us with surprise and then rolled his eyes, opening the door wider to let us in. I looked around the room, his bed was in the corner of the room with a desk on the edge. He had Slytherin banners from Quidditch games, and one wall was filled with moving pictures of friends and family. I could see a picture of Harley, Albus, Scorpius and I all together from fourth year, Scorpius and I were glaring at each other and Harley and Albus were laughing. "I remember this." I said quietly, pointing at the old photo. It was before I had quit the Gryffindor team, and Scorpius and I were arguing over who was allowed to practice on the field that day, Harley and Albus found we were being childish and just laughed. I turned around and saw Harley was sitting on the edge of his bed and Albus was looking at her with a pained expression as he leaned against the now closed bedroom door. "You never did show me your pictures." Harley said as she looked away from Albus and to the picture wall with interest. What did she mean by that? Albus shrugged, "not much to show, they aren't special." He said coldly, glancing at the picture wall. I turned around and looked at all the photos, but I wasn't sure what Albus meant. They were beautiful, and looked very professional. There were pictures of the castle, and even pictures of Harley laughing in the photos, now that I think about it, I only see him with a camera sometimes during the holiday, but I never knew he took photos. "I didn't know you were into photography." I said in a clipped tone, looking back at him with raised eyebrows. "Maybe I didn't want you to know." He said with a cocked eyebrow. I narrowed my eyes at him, "interesting choice of words, Al." I said coldly. Albus looked away from me and back at Harley. "Well, seeing as how Rose and I have already spoken today, I guess it's your turn, yes?" He said with raised eyebrows. Harley stood off the bed, and held her ground. "Now don't you get sarcastic with me Albus. You may be able to get away with that with Rose, but not me." She said firmly, I'm doing a dance and cheering my best friend on in my head. "I want answers." He said firmly. Harley nodded her head and crossed her arms, "and I'm going to give you them." She said quietly and calmly. How does she do it? Albus looked at her apprehensively, "so... How long have you known about them?" Harley shrugged her shoulders, "I think five months?" She said with her face contorted in thought. Albus looked at her with his mouth wide open. "You lied to me for five months?" He asked in shock and anger. Harley glared at him, "I did not lie to you, I simply didn't tell you what was going on!" She whispered angrily. Albus rolled his eyes and laughed harshly, "oh I'm sorry, huge difference isn't there?" He said loudly. Harley closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she could barley handle sarcasm from me, let alone Albus. And he knows this, he's doing it on purpose! Prat. "It wasn't my place to tell you! It was Rose and Scorpius's job, and you should know better then anyone that the last think I would do it rat out my best friend." Harley said coldly, I felt a swell of gratitude towards my best friend. "But you know how I felt about my family and Scorpius! And you know why." He added in a whisper. Harley rolled her eyes, "guess what Al? THEY NEVER SLEPT TOGETHER! How do I know? Because I'm her best friend and she would have told me!" Harley bellowed, making me gasp. "And how do I know you just aren't lying again?" Albus whispered coldly, oh shit. "How could you even say that?" Harley whispered. "I've never lied to you, why would I need to?" Harley asked, so much hurt in her voice I wanted to hex my own cousin. "I know my best friend. That's what he does and that's what he's always done. He gets bored, and some girl with puppy dog eyes comes around practically begging for him. And he gives them what they want. And then he breaks their hearts!" He shouted. "Well news flash! He's been with me for six months! Never slept with him, and he's still with me! So obviously it's a different situation!" I screamed, making both Harley and Albus jump. "And why would it be any of your business to begin with!?" I added angrily. It got extremely quite. "I'm. Sorry." I said through gritted teeth. "Im sorry if we left you in the dark for a long time. But now you know. Now everyone knows. So build a bridge and get over it, cause I'm done with being yelled at and lectured over and over and over again." I whispered. Albus looked away from me and back at Harley. "Baby- I love you, I do. But you can't protect her from everything." Harley said quietly. Albus sighed heavily and looked like he wanted to yell again, but looked at Harley. "You are stubborn. You aggravate me, and you drive me crazy!" He yelled making Harley shake her head and her eyes fill with tears. "And I fucking love you." He said quietly before taking two quick strides across the room to Harley and pulling her by her head, he began to kiss her aggressively. Oh thank merlin. Harley gasped but began to kiss back enthusiastically. I looked away and tried to concentrate on the photos again, feeling awkward. I heard them pull away and I looked back. Harley was breathing heavily and her eyes were wide. "I'm still angry." He said looking back at me. I nodded my head, "same here." I whispered before throwing my arms around his neck. He hugged me back reluctantly, I pulled away and held back the tears that wanted to escape. "Albus, have you heard from Scorpius at all?" I asked. He took a deep breath, "no, we aren't exactly talking at the moment." He said quietly, and I think he finally regrets punching him in the face. "But Al- he's with his father, alone." I whispered. Albus glanced at Harley and back at me. "I know you know what happens to him Al. And we can't just let that happen all summer." I pleaded. He sighed heavily, "well what do you want me to do? We can't just kidnap him! He's with his father and he's still sixteen for another month, so it would be illegal if he managed to run away." He said in frustration. So he is worried... "Uncle Harry, he's an auror! All he has to do is walk in, see the marks on Scorpius and Draco Malfoy is sent to Azkaban, and he's safe!" I said hopefully. Albus shook his head, "Draco Malfoy is much more clever than that, you should know that." He said, sitting down on his bed, still holding Harley from around the waist. "But I agree, Scorpius alone with his father for three months will end horribly." He said quietly. I could see he was thinking. "I can't promise anything, but I can speak to my father. Maybe he can get inside, make sure he's safe at the very least." Albus said, looking up at me. I nodded my head, "thank you." I sighed with relief. "I can't wrap my head around it." Albus said in disbelief, shaking his head in awe, and I knew he was talking about my relationship with his best friend. "Trust me, you get use to it." Harley said with a weak smile. I smiled as I watched Harley rest her head against Albus, looking more relaxed then she had in hours.
