Daddy... Please come back... I miss you... I need you... I'm sorry... Is all I could think as woke up, once again in the hospital wing. I was not allowed to leave for one more week. But some reason I feel like they are doing that for my mental health, as physically I feel fine... Maybe that isn't completely true... My heart hurts... I woke up this morning, thinking I'd be alone, but once again, I woke up to find Scorpius fast asleep, his head in my lap. I wiggled a little under his weight, but he woke up the moment I moved and looked directly at me, looking almost worried. But seeing I was okay, he yawned and stretched. "When did I...?" I whispered weakly. He stood up, and kissed me on my forehead. "You fell asleep in my arms... You were crying for a good hour, you must have really exhausted yourself. I picked you up and set you back in your bed. Your mother will be in later this afternoon to see you, and the headmistress made it clear the rest of your family and friends aren't allowed to see you until the weekend, so as not to overwhelm you, and before you ask, it's Wednesday. They can visit Friday." He finished. I gapped at him in silence. He smirked shyly, "I figured you might want to have some answers when you woke up..." He said softly. I nodded my head and smiled weakly. "But how are you here?" I asked, wondering if no one can visit me until the weekend, how he's here. Sleeping in my bed practically. At this, he smirked proudly. "Being a sneaky, talented, wonderful wizard as I am, I have my ways of sneaking in here at night and seeing you." He finished with a proud grin. I scoffed, "yeah, don't forget conceded and big headed." I mumbled with an eye roll, but my lips twitched a little. But some how I couldn't find the heart to smile completely. I lowered my head and just stared at my hands. But I felt his fingers curl under my chin and he tilted my head up. He was super close to my face, and was staring into my eyes with concentration. "I'm here for you. It's my job to protect you now. And he knew you loved him. He really did." He finished with a whisper. I blinked away the tears that formed in my eyes and forced a smile. "Yeah..." I mumbled. He gave me a quick kiss, and the forced smile turned into a natural one... "That's much better. You look much less constipated now. Your welcome." He finished with a wink. And I some how laughed. I felt this bubble in my chest, and I actually laughed... "AHA!" He said victoriously. "So sarcasm and cute insults is the way to go about this. Good to know." He smirked. "Well, that, and your kisses." I said with a shy smile. He blushed a deep shade of pink, and began to grin widely. "Oh really now?" He whispered. "Nope. I was doing as you said and being sarcastic." I said simply, actually smirking. His mouth dropped open and he glared at me. And for a moment, I managed to forget my father was actually gone... I was able to push away the thoughts of his death, and take a second to feel happy, and amused... It was a guilty feeling, but at the same time, nice... Then suddenly he gave me another quick kiss, and stood up straight. I smiled at the man I loved, and was just thankful he was safe. But then I heard a loud rumbling sound, that made me blush scarlet, and immediately cover my stomach. Scorpius raised his eyebrows and smirked. "I see someone's hungry." He said teasingly. His silver eyes softened and he smiled, "I'm going to run down to the kitchen and get you some food. What would you like, beautiful?" He said softly, grabbing a very familiar cloak off the chair he would sit in while I sleep. I looked at him hesitantly, "actually... Would it be okay if I went with you?" I asked, hoping he'd let me. I can't just sit down all day. I can't function this way, I need to breathe, take my mind off things. He hesitated and looked at me carefully. "I don't know Rose... You aren't well..." He said quietly. "Please Scorpius? I can't sit here and wait... I don't want to be left alone with my thoughts... Please.." I finished in a whisper. This must have convinced him, as he rolled his eyes and sighed heavily. "Alright. But you need to be careful. Your energy is easily wasted now a days from the shock. So if you feel weak, you need to tell me. Deal?" He said finally, looking at me expectantly. I nodded my head excitedly and happily stood up out of my bed. He stared down at me, blushed a light shade of pink and smirked. I watched him look away, but could see him glancing at me still. Confused, I looked down to see I was in a pair of black underwear, and a t-shirt. I quickly grabbed the sheet off my bed and threw it over my body. I was blushing and glaring at my boyfriend. He grinned widely. "Nice pajamas." He said with a wink. I rolled my eyes, "pants would be nice." I said, and he shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, I kind of like this look.." He said while looking down at the sheet with raised eyebrows. "Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy. Find me pants now, before I shove my wand where-" "alright alright! Let's not get violent." He said with a smirk and raised hands, pretending to surrender. He went to my bed side table and pulled out a pair of pajama shorts and he threw them at me. I caught them gratefully, dropping the sheet and pulling them on. Not minding if he really saw for a few seconds. When I was done he winked and threw the cloak over both of us. "Your uncle let me use this. He's actually the reason I'm able to sneak in here at night, he doesn't want me to let you out of my sight." He whispered as we walked out of the hospital wing unseen. "How did you feel when you found out about your father?" I whispered the question before I even knew what I was saying. Scorpius went stiff and suddenly stopped moving. I turned to look at him and saw his eyes were wide, as if he was frightened... "Scorpius...?" I whispered, starting to feel worried. He shook his head, "I don't know what to think. I've spent the last few years hating him, thinking he was the one torturing me, thinking he was the one abusing me... And it turns out, it was Dolohov all along...? I can't- I can't process it..." He finished. He looked at me, almost guiltily. "What..?" I asked. He shook his head, "I shouldn't be complaining. Not after your-" "don't." I muttered. I suddenly didn't feel very hungry. "It's not just about me. You suffered the most I think." I whispered, trying to fight the urge to run away, and find a place to hide where I can never show my face again. We continued to walk silently, "what about your mother..?" I whispered after five minutes of no one speaking. The only sound were the dull thudding of our feet against the schools floors. The corridors were surprisingly empty, the students must have a day off. When I looked back at him, it was to see a sorrowful face. "I don't know. According to Harry, after I left for Hogwarts, she went missing. I'm assuming she left. She finally escaped." He said in a whisper. I stopped walking and threw my arms around him, the cloak almost slipping off both of us. I'm not the only one who lost family then... He hugged me back, but straightened up and put on a smile. "But, we were never close. So it's not a big deal." He said softly, but I knew it was a big deal to him... We continued walking once more until we reached a painting of a bowl of fruit. Scorpius slipped out from under the cloak, and, tickled? I suppose? The pear in the bowl. It began to wiggle, and it swung open to reveal a very busy kitchen with hundreds of house elves. "Woah..." I whispered as I watched the tiny elves scramble around the kitchen hurriedly. "I know right?" Scorpius said with a grin, stuffing the cloak in a ball in his hands. "Me and Albus use to come here all the time. We'd take the food to the shrieking shack and just chill there. I use to bring girls there to-" he immediately stopped talking when he saw the horrified and sickened look on my face. Feeling slightly put off with the mention of his past, I walked right past him angrily and into the busy kitchen. I was immediately swarmed by elves carrying tea and breakfast foods. "Hello" I said warmly to the happy, squeaking creatures. "Tea?" A very grouchy, old looking elf asked. He had a locket around his neck, and looked a little hesitant to serve, as he held a cup of tea on a plate. "Um- yes please." I said softly, taking the tea gratefully. I turned around and saw Scorpius looking at his feet, ashamed. I sighed heavily and grabbed his hand, not wanting him to think I was really upset with him. He looked at me and smiled. Five minutes later Scorpius and I were walking back to the hospital wing carrying all the food in a basket given by the kind elves. "Little guys would make me a baked hippogriff smothered in chocolate if I asked, probably. Bless them." Scorpius said almost dream like as we walked slowly through the halls. Me and him made eye contact and began to laugh, but once I saw the sapphire reflect in his silver eyes, my heart stopped and my breath caught in my throat and I almost dropped the food as I looked down at my neck. "Rose? What's wrong?" Scorpius asked immediately, the fear and worry in his eyes growing. My necklace, it's gone! "I don't have it. I must have lost it!" I groaned as I noticed my naked neck, and my heart sunk at the realization. That necklace gave me comfort for some reason... Reminded me of his eyes, and how I can always look into them for comfort. And now it's gone. Scorpius breathed out heavily with relief. "Oh Merlin you scared me." He said heavily, grasping his chest as if to keep his heart inside. "I can't believe it's gone.." I said softly, feeling genuinely disappointed. "Hey, it's fine, I can just get you another one.." Scorpius said softly, trying to calm me down. I shook my head. "That was an actual family heirloom. I could tell by the engraved name on the back. Nothing could replace it. Also.. It had that note you gave me... Wait! The note!" I yelled, suddenly staring at him with wide eyes, my heart beating out of control. He looked taken aback and confused. "Wait. What note?" He asked. My eyes widened in surprise. "What note? The one you left in the envelope with the necklace! The one you gave me at Christmas last year..? There was a curse on it, and every time I tried to open it, it would light up, burn my fingers, and have some poem on it.." I finished quietly, trying to remember the words the poem read. I let the memory swim in my mind, and the words slipped in and out of my head.
"I will never open, till the day is in need Where there lacks trust, is when you may read. I hope the day does not come, for when the first sorrow falls. But if it must, rely on me to call." I whispered out loud. Scorpius was staring at me with worried eyes. "Rose, I never gave you a letter..." He said, and he reached out his hand to touch my head and I pulled away aggressively. "I'll prove it to you!" I yelled, feeling annoyed at his worry for my sanity. I dropped the basket of food in the corridor and jumped into a run, heading straight for the head boy and head girl common room. I could hear Scorpius running behind me. "ROSE! Stop running! Where are you going!? Your going to hurt yourself!" I could here him yell from behind me, but I kept running. When I got to the giant double doors, I realized I didn't have my wand to open it. "Shit." I whispered in annoyance. I turned and saw a very angry Scorpius glaring at me as he panted to catch his breath. "What the bloody hell were you thinking!?" He whispered angrily. "Open the door. I need to get my book." I said firmly, ignoring his question. "Rose! What is going on!?" He asked loudly, clearly confused. I rolled my eyes and looked at him pleadingly, my heart dying to find out this unanswered question. "Scorpius please. I don't know what's going on! I just need to get the book. Trust me, please." I whispered, staring into his concentrated, and slightly angry eyes. He glanced at the door, and then back at me. His silver stare piercing me deeply. "Fine. But no more running away, Rose. I'm not letting you out of my sight." He muttered, still clearly annoyed as he tapped the door with his wand. "Thank you!" I sighed with relief as the door opened. I walked inside quickly, and didn't stop to stare at the room I had left so many days ago, just to not return... I walked up the stairs as quickly as I could and entered my bedroom, and I saw my trunk, which I hadn't had a chance to empty. I opened it and found my books right on top of all my clothes. I quickly grabbed the final hunger games and turned it upside down, shaking the book. A piece of folded parchment fell to the floor and I threw the book aside and quickly grabbed the letter. "Your telling me you didn't put this in the envelope with my necklace?" I asked quietly, staring him in the eyes, hoping something would trigger a memory. He stared at the letter with confusion, "no...I don't remember ever giving you a letter actually.." He said softly, taking it in his hands. I watched him go to open it but I saw it glow red, and I heard him hiss in pain as it dropped to the floor. We both watched in fascination as the familiar words formed on the parchment. "Wait... That's...what..?" Scorpius whispered, picking up the paper off the floor and staring at it with wide eyes. "What? What?" I asked, feeling breathless. "That's my fathers hand writing.." Scorpius whispered. What the fuck?
