When I woke up the next morning and I sat up to get out of bed I felt a painful sensation around my mid section. I lifted up my t-shirt to see a giant bruise had formed where Brandon had crash landed. "Woah! How'd did you get that?" Harley startled me with her loud question. Harley was always a morning riser, I don't know how she does it. She sat on the edge of my bed and looked at the black and purple blob shape on my stomach. "Something happened at practice." I shrugged. I pulled my shirt down and got out of bed, every move stung a little bit. "What happened?" Harley asked in concern. I told her the story and she couldn't help laughing. "You got run over by his broom?" She asked through a gasp of laughter. I rolled my eyes at my best friend. She tried to recover from laughing and said with a forced serious face "I'm sorry." I laughed too. "Don't worry, I think James almost killed Brandon, I was laughing so much I think he was worried I was broken." We started laughing, but maybe too loud because Hannah and Sarah woke up. They rubbed their eyes and grumbled, "it's Saturday, can you two shut up?" Harley and I laughed again and started getting dressed silently. I put on a pair of skinny jeans, and a black t-shirt. "Have you seen my sneakers?" I asked Harley as I checked under my bed. "I borrowed them yesterday. Here they are." She said half heartedly as she tossed my red converse at my bed. I put them on, and grabbed a red, small jacket. Harley was dressed similar, except wearing a blue jacket with ballet flats. "Ready?" I nodded and we headed downstairs to the common room. As we walked down the stairs I started to yawn, and then I bumped into Harley who had suddenly stopped at the bottom of the steps. "Are your legs broken?" I asked as I rubbed my stomach, sudden movements hurt at the moment. She shook her head. I pushed her over a little so I could see what she was looking at, and I can see why she's so shocked. Keep in mind, Harley and I usually wake up on weekends around 6:30am and half the castle is still asleep. But when I looked into the Gryffindor common room, most of Gryffindor was awake. They where all crowded around the notice board and they were all murmuring things I couldn't make out. "I need to tell Brad!" And "I can't believe it." Or "I need to owl mom." I saw people running upstairs saying they needed to tell their friends. Harley and I ran up to the notice board to read what was so exciting. Harley and I's reactions were completely different. Harley gasped and started clapping and jumping up and down. Me? I felt my stomach drop.

"Hogwarts students.

-Headmistress

Magonigal"

"Oh this is so exciting!" Harley said clapping her hands together. I walked away from the notice board and sat down on the couch, my good mood evaporated. "Rose?" Harley asked in a concerned voice. "Aren't you excited?" Harley asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "Balls aren't really my thing is all. Ill probably stay in the dorm and study. Exams are suppose to be not long away from Christmas." I said putting on a smile. Harley narrowed her eyes at me. "Exams aren't for six months after Christmas!" I shrugged my shoulders. "You could never study enough my mother always says." Harley crossed her arms and glared at me. "Tell the truth." She growled. I sighed heavily, "Fine. I don't want to go." Harley made a hand motion indicating me to continue my explanation. "I don't want to go because, well. I'll be embarrassed." I said quietly. Harley looked confused. "Why?" She asked. I shrugged my shoulders and looked away from her. "Because, you need a date for these types of things. And you can easily get one no problem. But me? Yea right." Harley sighed heavily, "Rose, have you looked in a mirror lately? Your beautiful." She said. I smiled faintly, "your my best friend. Of course you think that" she shook her head. "Rose, in the hallways guys have double takes when they see you. Here! Follow me." She grabbed my wrist and dragged me up the stairs and into the bathroom. She forced me to look in the mirror. My waves of red hair came down to my waist. I was still kind of short, 5,5 and I was slender. You could see freckles lined on my nose, but I had dark blue eyes that popped out more. "You are beautiful, so shut up. Your going." Harley said simply. I smiled at my best friend and hugged her. Leave it to her to cheer me up.

We headed down to breakfast where the great hall was buzzing with talk about the Ball that was to take place on Christmas Eve. As I passed my family I could here Dominique talking on and on about what she's going to wear and who she's going to take. Her being part veela, she has a lot of options. I sat down at the Gryffindor table in front of Annie Hathaway. She was picking at her food with a glum expression. "What's wrong?" I asked her. She looked up at me and then looked down the table where James was sitting talking with Fred about the ball. I nodded in understanding. "I see. Maybe you should ask him?" I suggested. She blushed a furious shade of red. "No I wouldn't do that. He would be so awkward when he turns me down." She said quietly. I was a little shocked at her answer. "What makes you think he would turn you down?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders. "So you haven't noticed the way he looks at you at practice?" I said in total disbelief. James practically drools over her. I'm surprised they haven't noticed they both have a thing for each other yet. Annie's eyes widened at my words. She shook her head. "Annie, he has nearly hit Fred over the head with the bludger bat on accident because he's too busy looking at you to pay attention! Actually I think that has happened!" Annie looked so confused. "Trust me, ask him and he won't turn you down." I said. She nodded her head slowly and got up from the table and left the Great Hall. At that moment a Hufflepuff boy came over to our table. "Hey Frank, what's up?" Harley asked cheerfully. Frank blushed and rubbed the back of his head. "Hey Harley." He said quietly. "I was wondering, would you maybe want to go to the ball with me?" He asked quickly. Harley looked shocked. "Oh, I'm sorry Frank. But I'm waiting for someone els to ask me?" She said uncertain. Frank nodded his head. "I understand." And he walked away looking glum. I looked at my friend. "He seemed cute, why did you turn him down?" I asked. Harley turned a shade of pink and whispered, "I'm sort of hoping someone els will ask me." I raised my eyebrows. "Merlins sweaty socks... Your waiting for Albus aren't you!" I said in total disbelief. She blushed deeply. "Is it that obvious?" She asked me. "Well it's not hard to put the pieces together! Merlin! Albus? Why Al?" She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know... It just sort of happened." I gaped at my best friend. "When?" I asked. She looked at me, "last year? You where in detention and so was Scorpius, and-" I raised my hand to stop her sentence. "Last year, Hohsmeid trip." She nodded her head. I sighed heavily. "Alright. If it makes you feel any better I'm pretty sure he likes you too." It did seem to cheer her up, because we left breakfast with her skipping ahead of me. I told Harley I was going to go to library, so she left to go to the lake. As I was walking down the corridor Brandon came walking out of the library. He seemed shocked to see me. "Hey! I was just looking for you!" I stopped walking and let him walk towards me. "What's up?" I asked. He looked really nervous. "Are you ok?" I asked. He was normally a very out going person. He nodded his head. "Yea, just- I was wondering. If maybe you would want to go to the ball with me?" He asked. I stood, wide eyed at him. "Me? You could have any girl and your asking me?" I asked in disbelief. He didn't seem to know how to respond to that, but I don't think it would be a good idea if we went together, he was a great friend and he's cute buts just a player. "I don't-" I was about to tell him No but I was cut off by an annoying voice. Scorpius was walking out of the library and saw me and Brandon talking. He stopped walking and said with a smirk. "What's this? Is the weasle trying to bribe the seeker into going to the ball? It's ok Woods, don't take the bribe. If you ignore her long enough she will just go away." He said in annoying drawl. I felt my face heat up. And I saw Brandon turn around looking livid. But I knew what to do to get him to shut up. I grabbed Brandon by the front of his jacket and pulled him toward me. I gave him a quick kiss on the lips and said loud enough for Scorpius to hear. "I would love to go to the ball with you." Brandon looked shocked and was blushing a little, and Scorpius? His smile vanished and he turned a high shade of red. His mouth was hanging wide open. He closed his mouth and stormed away down the corridor. "Oh- um- cool so- yea. I guess I'll see you at practice?" Brandon said uncertain. I smiled, "yea, see you." And I skipped into the library feeling amazing. I couldn't believe Malfoys face! It was priceless! But then the sudden realization of what I had done wiped the smile clean off my face. What the hell was I thinking!?! What have I done! Now I'm going to the ball with Brandon!? And I kissed him!? I sat down in the back of the library and buried my face in my hands. "What have I just gotten myself into." I grumbled. "What did you get yourself into?" I jumped as I heard my cousin James speak right next to me. I looked at my cousin with wide eyes. What was he doing in the library? "Oh! Nothing- nothing. What are you doing here?" I asked trying to get away from the topic in my head. James gave me a suspicious look. "I was looking for you. I'm telling the entire team that this is our last week of practice. The first match with Slytherin is next Saturday so be ready." And he shot me one last suspicious look before walking out of the library. I slapped my hand against my forehead. I completely forgot about the game! Not to mention the bet me and Scorpius made. It's going to be a long week.
