Raelyn's heart beat quickly in her chest as she slipped easily past the northern border of the pack lands. She'd never been this far by herself before, had never even set foot off the pack's lands, if it wasn't in a car with her family going to a store, or on vacation and that was something that rarely happened anyways. Her eyes scanned the forest and she glanced back over her shoulder to be absolutely certain that no one had followed her.

Reeve was her twin sister, but they looked nothing alike. While Reeve was blonde, with blue eyes and a curvy, but still very slim figure, Raelyn was the more athletic of the two girls. She had long black hair that she always wore in two long french braids down her back, and hazel eyes that were nearly green, but not quite. She had curves, but only just barely, since her metabolism seemed to burn through everything she ate like wildfire.

Sometimes she was a little jealous of her sister's figure, but she wanted to be a warrior someday. There hadn't been a female warrior in nearly a decade and she was so close that she could practically taste it. It was everything that her parents didn't want for her, but it was all that she had wanted since she was a pup.

Walking faster it only took her a short while to come upon the cabin that her sister described. She stopped short and stared at it for almost a minute, her mind going over what Reeve had said. Her sister had been evasive when she'd tried to get more answers out of her about why she needed to go up to the cabin and why the Alpha would have a secret job for her there. It sounded cagey as Hell. But she was eighteen and her parents still managed to keep both of the girls from having any sort of social lives. It was hard to break away, living in the pack, and even though legally she was an adult, in terms of how this particular pack treated things, she wouldn't truly be considered an adult until she found her mate.

She knew it wasn't that way everywhere, but that was how it was in Amber Moon and she didn't have the funds to get away and start over. At least not yet. But she'd been scrimping and saving and every little bit helped. That's why she hadn't looked too carefully at this opportunity to work for the Alpha when Reeve had tossed it her way.

Raelyn blew out a breath and approached the door, knocking three times with as much confidence as she could muster. Her wolf made a whining sound in her chest, but she immediately shushed her. This was their Alpha she'd been working for. He was the safest male they knew, other than their father.

Alpha Cadman came to the door after a few long moments, his eyes swept over Raelyn, evaluating her from head to toe, lingering on the subtle curve of her breasts and hips, before returning to her eyes.

"Come in, come in, you must be Reeve's sister? Am I right?" She stepped through the doorway and looked around. The cabin appeared to be absolutely spotless, and she wondered what it was that he was going to have her clean.

"I am, Alpha Cadman. My name is Raelyn. I'm very grateful for this job."

"Yes, of course," he gestured to a room that was off to her right and she followed his lead, coming into a large master bedroom with an enormous bed standing in the center of the room. "There's actually something more important though that I would like to discuss with you. Rae. May I call you Rae?" He smiled warmly at the dark haired She-Wolf and she nodded, her brow furrowing as he sat down on the bed, before patting a place beside him.

"I don't know if you heard about the situation with my Luna." He looked into her eyes for a long moment, as if watching for a flash of recognition, and when he didn't see what he was looking for he looked away, his expression one of forced sadness. "You see, Rae, my chosen Luna abandoned me recently and broke my heart. She ran away with the visiting Alpha of another pack, despite the fact that we'd been hoping that she was carrying my child. My heir. You know how important it is that an Alpha has a male heir." His eyes came back to her face, watching carefully again as he waited for her to begin to process what he was saying.
