Chapter 36- Before Dawn

Alice was annoyed when she woke up. It wasn't so much that he hadn't told her his full first name. It was that she hadn't been able to convince him to tell her when she'd discovered that she didn't already know it. And the subtle difference irked her beyond belief. She knew that he'd been teasing her the night before. Mostly. But she was still annoyed when her eyes opened and she turned her head to stare at the still glowing embers of the fire.

She'd gotten up in the night to check on the meat and turn it again, and then finally to move it off the makeshift grill that she had made. Removing the wooden grill she rekindled the fire, coaxing it back to life, surprised by how deeply Fin managed to sleep, because it wasn't as if she was being all that quiet. She knew that if he were making as much noise as she were, she would be wide awake at least until she realized that there wasn't a threat.

Once the fire was going again, and she was convinced that it would go until morning, she moved back towards her spot, moving over her mate's body to slip back into the sleeping bag with him.

A gasp left her throat when his hands came up, catching her hips and pulling them down to anchor her firmly on top of him.

"I think that we should leave before dawn." His voice was thick with desire, although his words were hardly romantic. "We won't have much time in the morning, and as you said, who knows what will happen when we get home, although I swear I'll protect you with my life." His calloused hand came up to clasp the back of her neck, pulling her down for a kiss. She sank down against his chest, melting into the kiss with a sigh.

There were a few things that Fin had already learned about his young, gorgeous mate and some that he suspected. He knew that she was smart and strong and beautiful. He knew that she was a fairly good hunter and that she had survival skills rivaling many of the warriors in his pack. He'd seen her bravery and resourcefulness when she helped her pack Beta rescue him from her pack's holding cells a few days earlier. And she was passionate in bed.

What he didn't yet know about her, that he would learn very, very soon, was that she could be as stubborn as a mule and that when she was determined to do something she didn't let anything stand in her way. And right now she was determined to find out what his name was.

Pushing back the top layer of the sleeping bag she kissed her way down his chest again as he let out a moan, realizing immediately what she had in mind.

"Alice, you just did that earlier, you don't have to if you don't-"

"I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't want to. Fin." He should have noticed the way she said his name, but he was so focused on what she was doing that her clipped tone on that last word didn't really phase him.

Alice gazed up at him in the flickering light, as the tip of her tongue ran from the base of his cock up his length, and if the light had been a little bit brighter, he might have been able to see the mischievous gleam in her eye. She swirled her tongue around the tip before taking him in her mouth, one hand slipping around the wide girth of his base as eased him into the warm heat of her mouth and began to suck on him enthusiastically as if he was the best thing she had ever tasted. Her free hand came down to cup his balls as she continued to work him, moving up and down his length, letting him slide as far back as she could, listening to his moans as he came closer and closer to the edge and when she knew he was nearly there, his balls growing heavy and tight in her hand, she eased back suddenly and pulled away before grinning up at him.

"You know, Fin," this time he caught the hard stress she placed on his name and his eyes narrowed, both because of her tone and because her mouth and hands were no longer touching him and he was so, so close to the edge. Her very absence hurt rather unexpectedly, especially since she'd been the one to go down on him voluntarily, which he now realized, seemed to be part of her plan.
