Chapter 43: Still Breathing

POV: PROMISE

Dalawang linggo na ang nakararaan matapos ang mga pangyayaring trahedya na nagdulot ng pagkasawi ng ilan sa isla. Nahanap na rin ang bangkay ni Maya kinabukasan noon and her burial happened 2 days after her body was found. Ralph, Hazel and I attended to show our deepest sympathy to Bridgette Yvonne who lost both her father and sister. We watched how she cried out her heart loud. Puno ng paghihinagpis na parang pati s'ya ay nawalan ng buhay.

POV: VINCE

Narito ako ngayon sa isang restaurant na pagmamay-ari ng pinsan ko. Inimbitahan n'ya ako rito para kumanta. Kantahan ko daw ang mga customer n'ya.

"Hi cuz, Kantahan mo na mga customer ko oh, pumunta ka na rin lang dapat walang atrasan."

"Alam mo ate Glen, nakakahiya mamaya mabulunan pa yung mga nakain oh." Sabi ko naman at sumubo noong ice cream na sinerved n'ya sa table ko.

"Ay sus! Malay mo dito ka na makahanap ng girlfriend. Habang buhay ka nalang ba talagang single?" Sabi n'ya at natigilan naman ako.

"Stop that kindof topic ate Glen, fine kakanta na ako." Sabi ko para tantanan n'ya na akong karereto sa kung kani-kanino.

May familiar akong boses na narinig at biglang sumalo sa kinakanta ko. Hinanap ko kung saan nagmumula iyon. Hindi ako pwedeng magkamali...

Then natapos n'ya ang song na nakatitig lang ako sa kanya.

"Oh magkakilala kayo? I met Abi sa US while learning culinary there." Sabi ni ate Glen.

Hindi parin ako makapaniwala. Si Abi, buhay si Abi...I smiled looking at her that shows how much I've been longing to someone na hindi ko inaasahang magbabalik. I was so happy until...

"Yeah, I met her in the US, so ate Glen invited me and my family here in her restaurant after knowing na we have arrived here in the Philippines yesterday."
