Time crawled by as Ishita sat in silence, anxiety gnawing at her insides during Siddharth's surgery. As the clock ticked towards evening, Dr. Kapoor emerged from the camp, and Ishita, overwhelmed with emotions, rose to her feet, urgency etched on her face. Words failed her, and her attempts to articulate her concern came out as choked murmurs.

Dr. Kapoor, perceptive to her distress, nodded understandingly. "It went fine, Dr. Gupta," he reassured her. "We addressed the ligament issue, and overall, there's nothing to worry about. However, his mobility might be a concern." Ishita, gratitude and relief flooding her, managed a shaky "thank you" as tears streamed down her cheeks. With a nod, Dr. Kapoor left her to process the news.

Entering the camp, Ishita witnessed nurses settling Siddharth into a bed, the aftermath of the surgery evident in the bandages around his thigh. Typically composed in the face of post-surgery sights, seeing her husband in this state sent her heart racing. She blinked, attempting to clear the blur from her vision, but the room seemed to spin.

Suddenly, an overwhelming darkness enveloped her, and Ishita crumpled onto the unforgiving floor, losing consciousness.

The first light of morning gently illuminated the hospital tent, casting a warm glow on Siddharth's face as he slowly opened his eyes. For a moment, a sense of numbness enveloped him as he took in the unfamiliar surroundings.

His eyes fell upon Ishita, his ever-present source of strength, peacefully asleep beside his bed. Her serene expression brought a fleeting moment of calm amidst the chaos of his thoughts.

Reality flooded back, and Siddharth's mind processed the events—the rescue mission, the collapsed structure, and his own injuries, Ishita's worry.

Just then, Rishi entered the room with an exclamation, "Captain! You're awake?!" Siddharth shot him a glare, silently gesturing towards the still-sleeping Ishita. Understanding the unspoken request for quiet, Rishi approached Siddharth, a mix of relief and concern on his face. "You scared us, Cap," he admitted. Siddharth managed a weary smile, a silent acknowledgment of the shared ordeal.

Rishi hesitated for a moment before expressing remorse, "Captain... I'm sorry. I didn't go with you, and..." Siddharth interrupted, "Don't. We'll talk later." Rishi nodded in understanding and left the room.

Meanwhile, Ishita stirred from her sleep, wincing as her head throbbed slightly. Blinking away the remnants of slumber, she sat up in bed and noticed a saline tube connected to her hand. With a determined spirit, she removed the needle and, sensing a duty-bound atmosphere outside, stepped out of the bed.

Walking over to Siddharth, she gently cupped his face, a mix of joy and tears in her eyes. A silent exchange of reassurance passed between them. With a final glance at her still-sleeping husband, Ishita composed herself and walked out of the tent.

As darkness descended outside the confines of the camp, Siddharth found himself enveloped in a shroud of frustration. Unable to move freely due to his injuries, he was confined to his camp, eagerly awaiting the sight of his beloved wife. Throughout the day, the bustling activity of the medical team outside only served to intensify his longing to see Ishita.

As evening approached, the anticipation reached its peak. The sound of footsteps outside his tent stirred a glimmer of hope within Siddharth. Moments later, the curtains were drawn aside, and there she was—his anchor, his solace, Ishita. Despite the weariness etched on her features, her eyes sparkled with joy upon seeing him.

Siddharth watched as she entered, her presence bringing a sense of comfort and relief. With a flicker of the dim camp light, Ishita's tired but radiant face illuminated the space. Moving closer, she knelt down to his level, her fingers gently tracing the contours of his ear, then tenderly caressing his earlobe. The simple gesture sent waves of reassurance through Siddharth, as if her touch was infusing him with renewed strength.

A smile graced Siddharth's lips, a silent expression of gratitude for her unwavering support during his time of need. He felt a surge of emotion, overcoming the fear that had threatened to consume him in moments of uncertainty. As Ishita leaned in, pressing her lips against his forehead, Siddharth felt a sense of peace wash over him.

With her gentle guidance, Ishita helped Siddharth sit up straight, her touch imbued with tenderness and care.

As Siddharth and Ishita walked along the dusty pathway, their footsteps mingled with the echoes of the bustling camp. The air was heavy with unspoken thoughts, each step a silent exchange of reassurance and support. For a while, they walked in comfortable silence, the weight of their shared experiences hanging in the air.

She expressed her concern yet again," You sure its not hurting that much?"

He smiled," It is. But its bearable."

"I found smoke around that structure. So I walked in, then...guess I stepped wrong. And it...collapsed," Siddharth confessed, the gravity of the situation evident in his tone.

Ishita closed her eyes briefly, absorbing the information. The image of her husband braving danger, driven by his sense of duty, tugged at her heartstrings. She nodded, a silent acknowledgment of the risks he faced in the line of duty.

Suddenly, Ishita adjusted her grip on Siddharth's crutch, looping his arm around her shoulder for added support. Siddharth looked at her, puzzled by the unexpected gesture.

Ishita's smile conveyed reassurance as she gazed ahead, her determination palpable.

"Sid, I can be strong for you. I want you to know that. I can be your support," Ishita expressed, her voice soft yet resolute.

Siddharth's eyes softened at her words, a flicker of warmth igniting within him. "You already are," he replied, his voice carrying a depth of emotion.

Then she confessed," I was scared."

Siddharth leaned slightly into her, their closeness offering comfort and reassurance. "Me too," he murmured, his admission a reflection of their shared fears and uncertainties.

Despite the challenges they faced, their bond remained unwavering, anchored by a profound understanding and mutual respect. They didn't need grand gestures or lengthy conversations to communicate; their connection spoke through simple actions and shared experiences.

They must have loved each other so much, must have been married already, but they realised that there are many phases and many faces of their relationship which is yet to unfold. And one of those is understanding and commitment.  Which was evident in a moment like this.

As the morning sun rose, casting its golden hues over the disaster-stricken camp, a sense of relief washed over Ishita when she saw her brother Arnav's familiar face approaching. His arrival brought with it a glimmer of hope and the promise of a return to normalcy.

Arnav's words about the road conditions being almost normal filled Ishita with a sense of gratitude. It meant that they could finally leave this chaotic place behind and head home. And with it being the last day for Siddharth's team at the assigned area, the prospect of returning home felt even more imminent.

With the prospect of heading home on the horizon, Siddharth's desire to ride in the firetruck was met with gentle resistance from Ishita, the self-proclaimed "home-minister", and her authority couldn't be challenged, even by her husband. With Ishita's help, Siddharth carefully stepped into Arnav's car, and Ishita settled in beside him in the backseat.

The initial awkwardness between Siddharth and Arnav dissipated as Arnav made a genuine effort to mend their relationship with Ishita. Siddharth appreciated the gesture and reciprocated with civility, recognizing the importance of family harmony, especially in times of crisis.

As they embarked on their journey home, Siddharth rolled down the car window, inviting in the fresh morning air. Ishita, leaning against his shoulder, shared in his quiet contemplation, gazing out at the serene landscape passing by. While Arnav rolled his eyes but can't hide a smile observing the couple through the reflection.

Finally, after almost three weeks of relentless challenges and uncertainties, a sense of peace washed over them. They are heading h
