Chapter 32

Luke's POV

Umuwi ako na malalim ang iniisip, paano ko kaya mapipigilan si Kevin sa gagawin niya? Umupo ako sa sofa at nag-isip.

"Oh kuya, why the face?  You bothered?", tanong ni Genny habang nagy-yoga sa may sala. 

"Liligawan ni Kevin si Danielle."

"Oh my gosh! No! That's a disaster!", sabi ni Genny. 

"Right? 'Yan din ang sinabi ko kay Kevin, pero desidido siya."

"No, the last girl he dated ended up I don't know where. Ano bang iniisip ni Kuya Kevin eh alam niya namang hindi tatanggapin si Ate Elle sa family nila. What are you gonna do Kuya?"

"I'm not going to let him pursue her. I think Elle might like him already."

"What?!" Tumango ako. "Court her na!", sigaw ni Genny. 

"Of course not. I don't want to date her just because of this." 

"Then what are you  going to do?" Hindi ako nakapagsalita. 

"I have to figure it out first.", sabi ko. 

"What about if you tell her Kuya Kevin's bad side? Tell her what happened to those poor girls, huh?" 

"Hindi ba parang halatang against ako?"

"Yes, but she'll get the message."

"Baka isipin niya may gusto ako sakanya." Huminga ng malalim si Genny."What?"

"Kuya, if you don't like, why are you doing all of these things?"

"She's a close friend, I'm just looking after her.", sabi ko. Hindi na siya sumagot. What shall I do to prevent her from getting close to him?  

Kevin's POV 

Bumili ako ng bagong gitara, matagal na akong hindi nakakagitara eh, siguro old school na ang panghaharana pero, uso pa rin naman to. 

"What are you doing?", tanong ni Angelica.

"Mind your own business. "

"Oh really? I guess you'll make harana to that ugly nerd noh? Tch. Bakit niyo ba nagustuhan 'yung social climber na 'yon?"

"I am doing this because of you. You started this. If she remembered what really happened, maybe our friendship would save you. Kung wala kang sasabihing mabuti sakanya, just shut up. She's a great girl."

"Kevin, why are you always pursuing girls not in our level? May superiority complex ka ba? You know very well what would happen to that girl if Dad found out. Hindi ka ba naaawa sakanya?"

"Awa?", panunuya ko. "Ikaw pa talaga  ang nagsabi niyan?"

"I hate her but I don't hate her that much to wish that kind of thing to happen. I know how Dad can be strict.Why do you think I'm pursuing your bestfriend so much? But the both of you are still head over heels with that nerd scholar. Huwag mong sabihing seryoso ka sakanya?" Napatigil ako. 

"Maybe." Tumawa siya.

"You're insane and selfish. Bahala ka, alam mo 'yang pinapasok mo. Poor Elle." Umalis si Angel sa harap ko. Alam ko naman ang gagawin ni Dad pag nalaman niyang may nililigawan nanaman ako. Pero, nagt-trabaho na ako, kaya ko nang gumawa ng sarili kong desisyon.

Inaya ko si Elle kumain sa labas. Hindi ko ipinaalam kay Luke kasi sigurado gagawa ng paraan 'yon para sumama sa amin.

"Ha? Akala ko kasama si Luke?", tanong ni Elle.

"May gagawin daw siya eh.",sabi ko. Nag order na kami at kumain, nagkwentuhan at naghanap ako ng tyempo para iopen ang topic.

"Elle, I like you." Nakita ko ang pamumula sa mukha niya na pinilit niyang itago ng seryosong mukha. "Please say something."

Ngumisi siya."Are you for real?"

"Based on your reaction, it seems like Luke already told you my curse."

"Curse? What curse?"

"Wala pa siyang nasabi sa'yo?"umiling si Elle. "Then what's with your reaction."

"Wala siyang nasabi sa akin specifically but you are not a mystery around here. The stories of your exes are popular rumors around here you know."

"Huh? I don't even go here. Bakit ako pinag-uusapan dito?"

"Eh paano ba naman parati ka dito tapos binibisita mo ako. Siyempre may conclusions na sa utak ng mga yan, magre-research yan. And then here we are. I completely understand how different our worlds are. And if the rumors are correct, that I will not be in a peaceful state if ever your family knew about this, I don't want any of that Kevin."

"Wow, hindi pa ako nagsisimula na basted na ako. Don't you trust me?" Hindi siya nakapagsalita.

"I don't know, can I? I just don't want to risk what I have now. "

"I'll show you.", sabi ko. I can protect her now.

"Kevin, I'm just 17 years old. I still have years before I finish college, and right now I don't have any intention on having a romantic relationship.",sabi niya.

"Then I'll wait.", huminga siya ng malalim.

"Don't.", sabi niya.

"Are you completely shutting me off?"

"Yes, I don't want to give false hope that in the future I will let you court me. You are a good friend and a bery reliable one. But with all of the tragedies that happen to me, I want to reach my dreams first."

"Then I'll wait be there until you reach your dreams. Come on, let me." Hindi siya sumagot.

"Kevin, ganito nalang, let's stay where we are right now, as friends. Let me be clear."

"Okay." Pagkatapos namin kumain, hinatid ko siya. "Good night."

"Good night."
