"Busy day today?"

Cam looks up from my g tube which she's injecting something into.

"Not too bad."

"Nothing too horrific today?"

"I'm not supposed to talk about other patients."

"Who am I going to tell? God? I'm pretty sure he already knows."

Shaking her head, Cam sighs, "There's a kid dying in the ER."

"Define kid."

"Does age matter?"

"I think so." I answer, "If a baby dies his parents suffer. If a teenager dies his parents suffer and so do their younger siblings, their teachers, their friends, the people that follow them on that app where you post the pictures."

"Teenager." Cam answers, running her gloved hand over her silver hair.

"Was it gruesome?"

"He looks like something out of a Stephen King adaption."

"What happened?"

"Eating disorder."

"The family bad?"

"They're in hysterics."

"Is he going to make it?"

Cam shrugs.

"Do you believe in God?" I question.

Cam thinks for a moment, then nods, "I think I'm Jewish, my husband is, the kids are."

I nod, "I don't know what I believe. I used to be Catholic then I got Cancer."

Cam shifts uncomfortably.

"If I were a God fearing person I'd pray for that kid. Ask the big guy up in the sky to take me and leave him. The world doesn't need a bald, middle aged depressive widow. It needs that boy though."

"That's kind of you."

"It's not. I'm being selfish, I want to die, living hurts."

"I'll miss you when you're gone." Cam assures me, fluffing my pillow.

"As far as nurses go you're the best one I've ever had Cameron."

She smiles.

"Wish the kid downstairs good luck." I say.

Cam nods, "He's going to need it."
