Chapter 22 - The Fall

Another quick update my dears. I hope this chapter shocks you as it did me. When I was writing this, my story was all set, but it now has a life of its own and I just follow its lead. There are certain twists here that I did not plan at all.

While reading, just imagine that you're watching TV and switching channels, that's how the feel of this story is supposedly. The pacing is fast because things are now snowballing. I really hope you are enjoying reading this story up to this point.

"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me outside the office, Tony. Better to discuss here, mahirap na."

"I understand. Ano ba pag-uusapan natin?"

"I need your help with something. Please help me investigate on suppliers ng projects natin. Kaming tatlo kasi, we have our own sets of suppliers for construction materials ng projects na hawak namin. I want to see yung comparative pricing ng materials na kinukuha namin. Want to see kung yung margins namin magkakalapit. May policy tayo sa pricing na dapat sinusunod."

"Sige, kakilala ko rin naman yung mga Finance people sa companies na yan kasi when we issue check payments, sila rin naman kausap ko."

"Pwede bang alamin mo kung may kickback na kinukuha sina Daniel and Sam? I understand naman kung may referral fee na binibigay, standard naman yun eh. Kung mga 10% lang, ok lang yun. Pero kung malaki pa don yung commission, kickback na yun. May impact sa kita ng company yun. Kasi magiging mahal ang procurement ng materials."

"Sige, give me a week to find out. Konti lang naman suppliers ninyo since mostly fit-outs and design lang hawak niyo eh."

"Thanks for the help, Tony. Balitaan mo ako agad."

"Hello, Dei? Have you talked to RJ already?"

"Nope, not yet."

"Dei naman!!! I need you badly, when are you coming on board? Please talk to him na."

"Pat wait lang. He's undergoing a crisis right now, I need right timing to mention this to him. Baka mauwi kami sa away."

"Huwag ka na kasi magpaalam, Ipaalam mo lang, there's a difference you know."

"Pat, I promised him that my career....."

"I know, I know.....your career will never be a priority over him. Pero naman, your life is revolving around him. That's not healthy. You have your own interests to pursue also."

"I know that. Please just let me do it on my own time. Didiskartehan ko pa eh."

"Fine......grabe, I don't know why I bother to wait for you."

"Richard, good morning."

"Good morning Tony. It's been a week since we last talked. May nakuha ka bang info?"

"Andito sa folder ang lahat ng kailangan mong evidence, Richard. Malinis si Sam, wala akong nakuhang kahit anong suspicious info sa kanya. Pero kay Daniel, nandiyan sa folder ang mga photocopies ng checks na binayad sa kanya as cut niya sa transactions nila ng mga suppliers. Malalaki nakuha niyang commissions. Kaya mataas presyo ng mga materyales niya sa projects, kasi naka-pad sa pricing ang kickback niya."

"Milyon din pala inabot. Thanks for the help, Tony. "

"Wala yun, Richard. I promised your dad na tutulungan kita sa business mo, tumutupad lang ako sa pangako."

"Pero nagtataka lang ako Tony. How come pumayag yung mga suppliers na bigyan ka ng photocopy ng checks na bayad nila kay Dan? Di ba naisip ng mga kausap mo na kasiraan din sa mga kumpanya nila yung magshare ng ganyang info?

"Babe, how was your day? Mukhang malungkot ka pa rin ha."

"Daming problema sa office eh. Kiss muna babe, napagod ako. Mmmmm, sarap mo i-hug. You smell so good sweetie, good enough to eat, haha."

"Huyyy, eat muna tayo babe, ang tagal ko nagprepare ng dinner dapat kainin natin yan. Sexy time tayo later, promise."

"Sige, sige.....mukha ngang masarap ha. What's the occasion bakit parang may celebration?"

"Uhmmm, babe, what would you say about me going back to work with Pat full-time? Dumadami na kasi yung trabaho, she needs me badly na eh."

"Ganon ba? Hmmmm, di kaya dahil lang sa Aldub kaya gusto mo mag-fulltime? Hahahaha, look at your face, babe, you're blushing. Lika nga dito."

"Babe, ano? Ok lang ba? Ohhh.....babe, nililibang mo ko eh. Daya mo...."

"Crush mo lang ata yung Alvin Foster eh kaya gusto mo mag-fulltime. Teka, teka, ayoko yata, selos ako eh."

"Richard Faulkerson Jr., this is important to me. Please naman, I want to know it's ok with you."

"Sige na nga, I'm just teasing you babe. Of course it's ok with me, if it will make you happy."

"Seriously?! Ok lang sayo?"

"Bakit, ayaw mo?"

"Thank you! I promise I'll still take care of you kahit fulltime na ko. Thank you babe..."

"Ahhhh.....Akala ko ba eat dinner muna? Bakit nagte-thank you ka na sakin? Dei, oooohhhh, stop, no wait, don't. Tuloy mo......ohhhhhh..."

"Babe, your phone is ringing."

"Bayaan mo siya, just finish what you started, Babe, come here."

"Babe baka importante, it's still ringing."

"Fuck, ok ok. Akina.... ."

"Hello Sam? What's up?"

"RJ, are you sitting down? I have bad news."

"Bad news? Can't it wait? Pagod na pagod na ko sa kakaayos ng problema kanina."

"This can't wait, pare. Malaki problema natin."

"Tungkol saan ba? Si Daniel na naman ba?"

"I'm so sorry to say this bro......"

"Spill it out, for fuck's sake, man."

"Bro, si Tony. It's been Tony all along. Check our bank accounts, RJ. Wala na si Tony."
