Black curtains hung over the windows, blocking the sunlight from entering the room. Devyn sat on the bed, throwing her arm out to invite us to sit. Kat fell on the bed like she was comfortable here. I guess she was, since she had been hanging out a while. This probably wasn't her first time hanging out with Devyn, much less her first time speaking with the quiet girl.

I sat down gingerly on the edge of the bed, and rubbed my hands on my thighs.

"Nice outfit," Devyn said, looking at my clothes.

 I smiled.

 "Thanks. You too."

She was dressed in a white tube top, with short jean shorts, no shoes. She looked cute, and wholesome. I don't think I could ever pull that off.

I glanced back at Kat, who had her head buried in her arms on the bed.

"You okay babe?" I asked, putting my hand on her back and rubbing a little.

She raised her head to look at me, and I saw tears in her eyes. She nodded.

"I will be. I'm just confused right now. Sam and I had one hell of a discussion and I'm not sure how I should take things. I don't know if I want to stay with him or if I should run away screaming." She sighed, while I was trying to wrap my head around what she was saying. "I love him. I don't think I can just leave...but he's lied to me and...I'm not sure he's a good person." She laughed a little and wiped her eyes.

"They're all good people, deep down." Devyn said, patting Kat's hand.

Kat sat up and turned towards us on the bed.

"I know it seems like a lot to handle right now but it's really not as bad as you think...and you'll always be protected. Maybe just give him a chance since you know everything now."

"How do you know that I know everything?" Kat asked, her brow creased as she looked at Devyn.

I just watched this interaction, hoping that they would drop some useful information without me having to ask. Was getting the feeling that they weren't going to give me the whole truth anyways.

"Corey whispered it to me, right before you walked in the garage. I'm glad. It's nice to have another...normal girl that knows."

Wait, so either Tara wasn't 'normal' or she didn't know what was going on either. I had a feeling that I was the only one that didn't have a clue what was happening around here.

"Okay," I spoke up. "I need all of this secretive ass cryptic shit to stop. Someone tell me what is going on right now!"

They both looked at me and Kat smiled sadly. "You really don't want to know Chloe. Let's just say, it's not our place to tell you, but if you and Colby continue with whatever it is you guys are doing...he needs to tell you."

"Oh Colby will tell her but probably not for a little while. He's gotta make sure that he really loves her and that she loves him. That's the only way he can justify telling her." Devyn said, giving me a soft smile, like she thought we already loved each other.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" I exclaimed, standing up off of the bed. "I don't even know him! Nobody is talking love right now! You guys are fucking crazy. I have no idea what is going on, you guys are being cryptic, saying you should run away screaming, and now you're talking love!?" I shook my head manically. "This is too much." I looked directly at Katrina. "How can you sit there and say that you aren't going to tell me what is going on?? We tell each other everything!"

She drew her lips inside her mouth, then let them out. "Chloe, I really wish that I could. I need to talk to someone, about this, but I've been sworn to secrecy and I understand why. It's just not my place."

I let out a deep breath. This wasn't right and I felt left out. At the same time, I felt like Kat was trying to protect me from whatever secrets that Sam and Colby were hiding along with the other guys.

I sat back down in between the girls.

"Fine. I get it. No, I'm lying. I don't but I'm willing to wait until you can tell me."

Kat leaned forwards and hugged me around the neck. "I love you."

 "I love you too."

She leaned back. "I think that I can tell you a little without violating what they are keeping quiet."

I saw Devyn shake her head. "Katrina, you need to be careful."

Kat held her hand up at Devyn. "I'm going to be."

I really hate being left out of shit. I was getting angry but trying to control it. I was actually doing pretty well, all things considered.

"Talk." I huffed out, crossing my arms.

"She's not a patient one is she?" Devyn asked, her lips turning up at the corners.

"She never has been," Kat replied sighing. "Okay Chloe. Sam gave me some information about himself and the guys that really upset me. I can't tell you exactly what it is but I can tell you a little. I'm scared of them a little now because they've killed people."

I raised my eyebrows, sure that I had heard her wrong. "I'm sorry, what?"

She nodded. "They don't anymore...well, not intentionally, but they used to. Remember when you said that they were part of a gang?" I heard Devyn's light tinkling laugh but I continued to stare at Kat. "Well, they kind of are. It's a different kind of gang though. They still have to beat people pretty badly, to protect others, but they don't kill them. Unless it's a special job."

My brain was in overdrive and it was getting overloaded at the same time. I couldn't understand what she was telling me.

"Sam told me that Colby and Elton were the worst ones, so I need you to be careful with him. I do feel like he is a good guy but I think it's really deep down."

It was my turn to shake my head. "It's not," I said quietly.

 "What?"

I cleared my throat. "It's not deep down. Colby is a good guy. I've seen it. It's about all Ive seen now."
