"I still don't understand what kind of job you guys have. Can you tell me more about it?"

She shrugged. "Yeah, I guess. It's more like protection for the big wigs of the underworld part of LA. You know, the mobsters and such. We have contracts with each head, and we provide them protection from the lower branches that might try to overthrow or kill them. Colby refused to work with a few of them because they were into some bad stuff that he didn't approve of."

"Like what?" I asked.

"Child trafficking or something I think. Not really sure. He doesn't usually give us the details. We just go with whatever him and Sam say and get paid." She shrugged and took another shot of vodka. "Okay, drink is done. Grab the glasses!" She said, holding up the pitcher.

I grabbed three glasses and put some crushed ice in them, then brought them over to Tara. She poured the drink in them to the very top and we passed them out, me keeping the last one.

"Plenty left if you guys want more. Let's get these bottles in there for me and the guys!" She cried, holding up the vodka bottle, while Devyn grabbed a couple bottles of Jack and Kat grabbed another bottle of vodka.

"This is enough?" Kat asked.

Tara laughed.

 "For now, at least."

We all laughed and walked back to the garage, Tara in the lead. She stopped when we got to the door and held her hand up for us to stop and be quiet. She leaned her head towards the door, listening.

"They're planning to kill Millie, then dealing with the repercussions of how to deal with that," she whispered.

"Tara!" Colby's voice rang out from inside the garage.

Tara's eyes widened for a moment then a grin broke out on her face.

"Yes Colby?" She called through the door.

"You do know that we're vampires too right? We can hear you." He didn't sound mad, just a little irritated.

Tara threw the door open and we walked through.

"I know. Just thought the girls should be involved with what you guys were doing. They're tough. They can handle it. I mean, they are with you guys, after all. They have to be able to deal with some fucked up shit."

I freaking loved this girl! Vampire...whatever. I loved her.

Kat, Dev, and I giggled as we walked over to our guys. Tara was already back in her spot next to Jake, turning up the bottle of vodka, then passing it to Jake. He took it from her, then leaned over and kissed her fiercely, before leaning back and turning the bottle up.

Devyn gave the bottle of Jack to Corey then sat down with him. I sat down next to Colby, avoiding his heat filled gaze. Didn't need anybody smelling anything.

I brought my glass to my lips and sipped it.

"Heads up!" Corey called out, as he tossed the bottle of Jack over my head to Colby.

I sucked in a breath as it came close to me, thinking that it was going to hit me. I should have known better but when you see a hard glass bottle coming at your head, reflexes kick in. I ducked at the same time that I sucked in the breath, and started to choke on the drink that I had been sipping on.

I felt Colby's hand start rubbing my back, while I tried to catch my breath. It took a minute for me to be right again but eventually I sat back up, and took another swallow of my drink to clear my throat.

"You do know that you weren't going to get hit right? Vampires babe," Colby replied sarcastically, while he grinned at me.

"Shut up. I saw a bottle coming for my head. Reflex." I stuck my tongue out at him and he growled at me, his eyes darkening.

"I'd advise you to keep that in your mouth."

I rolled my eyes, and looked away from him before he made me clench my legs again.

"Sorry I scared you Chloe," Corey said, smiling at me. "Try to give you more of a warning next time."

I smiled and nodded at him. "It's fine. I just have to get used to everyone being so damn coordinated around me. You guys make me feel like more of a klutz than I already am."

"You are a klutz, aren't you?" Colby replied, wrapping his arms around my waist, and pulling me back against him.

He nuzzled his mouth into my neck, and I found myself yearning for him to bite me again. No wonder those people kept coming back for more. It was actually a drug that could get you addicted to it very quickly.

I wanted that euphoria again, but would settle for just getting drunk for now. Maybe I could talk Colby into it later. Wasn't sure how he was going to feel about it, since he hadn't fed on me since the coma...he had to be sick of blood bags by now though.

Elton and Aryia walked in at that moment, blood covering their clothes, faces, and knuckles. They didn't speak, but Elton caught the bottle of vodka that Sam threw towards him and turned it automatically.

"I take it the job was a little tougher than anticipated?" Colby asked, as they sat down on the couch.

"Nah, we just had a little fun with it," Elton replied, giving him that famous, terrifying grin.

I swear, I still wasn't used to it.

Does that mean that they killed someone tonight for fun? I know that they give people protection, but they give it to the underworld of LA so that means they are messing around with all of the drug dealers, and money launderers, and pretty much all the different kinds of shady people. I didn't know a lot about it, because I never needed to, but I've watched mob movies and gang related stuff.

I was assuming that they were into that type of thing.

Was I okay with the fact that they were still killing people?

Even if they probably were "bad" people?

I had no fucking clue and my brain was rejecting even wanting to think about it so I just brought my drink to my lips again.
