I decided to just go out her window, so I pulled her curtain back more, unlocked her window and opened it. I gave myself one more glance behind me, to see her sleeping peacefully, her arms wrapped around the pillow that I had used. I sighed, wanting to climb back into the bed with her, but I assumed she wouldn't really be happy waking up to me.

I climbed out the window and tried to stay in the shade, making my way back to her balcony. The sun was covering most of it but there was a small section that was in the shade. It was getting late and I knew she had be at work soon, so hopefully I wouldn't be out here long.

I should've brought my car, so that I could stay in the cover of it when she went to work. Oh well, too late now. She'd probably see my car parked outside the place anyways.

I peered through the balcony doors, trying to stay out of sight. I saw her speaking with Kat.

"You're feeling better then?" Kat asked her.

 She nodded.

"Yeah, I slept amazingly after the nightmares stopped. I'm not sure why they stopped, but afterwards, I slept like a baby."

"Hmmm" Kat replied, turning in my direction.

I ducked back behind the wall. Kat knew I had been inside. Oh well, she'd get over it.

I broke the promise for a good reason. Chloe was calling for me. I wasn't going to just ignore it.

They spoke another minute, Kat saying that she was staying at the house tonight with Sam. That meant Chloe would be alone. Well, except for me.

She finished getting ready, and then I heard her front door. She was leaving. Time for me to follow her car.

I know that seems weird, but you'd be amazed by how easy it was for a vampire to cause a car accident, and make it look...well, like an accident. Traffic slowed us down, so I had to stay out of sight, ducking behind buildings. It took longer than it should have but we eventually made it.

Chloe was running a little bit late for work and I knew that it was driving her crazy. She hated to be late. I was going to have to just stand outside, under the awning of the store next to the coffee shop.

That was fine. I could still hear what was being said. Seemed like Jeffy boy was real worried about her being sick. Hmpfh.

Wish I could just tell him that she wasn't really sick and that I had actually fucked her into a coma. Preppy asshole. If he only knew about the things that Chloe and I had done.

Bet that would wipe that stupid grin right off of his face. I couldn't see it, but I could imagine.

Now he wants to know if we're dating.

"Then we were and now we're-"

I heard Chloe stop in her explanation.

I leaned closer to the door, even though I could hear perfectly fine.

"You're what?" That stupid prick asked

"We're good." Chloe replied, making me let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding.

He's trying to warn her about me?!

Seriously?

"Pretty sure that he's the one that was with my girlfriend before she ghosted me. Remember the one that she cheated on me with?"

I growled under my breath, scaring a lady that was walking by with her young child. I flashed my fangs at them, and let my eyes turn black for just a second before I brought my face back to normal and smiled at them sweetly. The kid screamed and clung to it's mother, while the mom just looked at me, clearly shaken, but unsure of what she had just seen.

She tightened her grip on her daughter and pulled her away, glancing back at me several times. I waved at her.

I tuned back in to the conversation inside.

"Isn't really his fault then, is it? She's the one that was unfaithful. How long has it been since you've heard from her?"

Chloe was taking up for me even in that situation. Jesus, she really was too good for me. I probably did steal his girl.

Damned if I know.

"About a year now, I think. Can't be sure. I don't even try to get in touch with her anymore. It is what it is, right?" He paused, and I could imagine him smiling his stupid smile at her, trying to get her to smile back.

She was nice so she probably was.

"Besides, I'm sure there is someone out there far better for me that won't cheat."

There we go. That's what he was aiming for.

"Exactly. You're better off. What was her name? I can ask him for you, if you really wanna know if it was him. I think you'll be better off not knowing to be honest but..." She let her words trail off.

Hmm why did she offer to do that if she wasn't even talking to me right now? I hadn't heard a word from her, and she didn't seem pressed about it at all.

I heard her heart beat speed up, and her pulse start racing. She was nervous. I stepped to the side, looking into the building.

Jeffy was standing really close to my Chloe, his hand over hers. It took everything I had in me not to burst through those doors right then and snap his little twig neck with my bare hands. I would just squeeze and watch his eyes pop out of his head. Let him see how angry I could actually be.

I started to do just that actually, my hand reaching for the door, when I heard her name.

"Her name was Millie. She was really intense sometimes, but I loved her."

I zoned out for a moment there.

Millie was his ex girlfriend? How did I not know that? I mean, yeah I had come up here a couple of times to drink from Millie when we didn't have anyone at the house and I was thirsty.

Did she even tell me that she had a boyfriend? Probably.

I just never gave a shit.

"His face was nothing but evil, and he was smiling at me sadistically. I even thought he had blood on his mouth."

I had a vague recollection of some guy yelling at me when I had Millie shoved up against the wall.
