"Dinner time." Cedric announced his presence. Alex was spending more and more time out in the forest, sort of like when Kichiro was first born. It seemed to annoy the hell out of Megan.

"Thanks." She took the plate, and used a cleansing cloth to wipe her hands.

"Any idea when she's due?" He asked and Alex shrugged.

"Maybe two weeks or three." She answered. "I think."

"So, does that mean you can come to the Yule ball? I mean, I love that you love the unicorns, but you deserve a night off."

"I don't have a date." He grinned sheepishly and ducked his head.

"I assumed we'd go together."

"You haven't asked."

"Will you go with me?"

"I don't know, as the champion you're expected to dance and that means I'd have to dance. I don't know if it's worth it." She teased and he rolled his eyes. "Yeah, of course I'll go with you."

"I could always ask someone else, if it's such an inconvenience."

"What, like Cho?"

"Well I wouldn't want to bother you." She glared at him. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding!"

"It's not funny."

"It's a joke. Look, I swear- you know there's never been nor will there ever be anything between Cho Chang and I. It was just a stupid remark Lee Jordan made on a quidditch field once."

"She does like you." Alex said. "It's obvious."

"Well, I love you. So it doesn't matter."

"But people think you and she would be perfect together."

"I hardly even know her outside the quidditch pitch. And I happen to think you and I are perfect together. Don't you?"

"Of course." She grumbled.

"So come to the ball with me. I wouldn't want to go with anyone else."

"Me neither." She agreed and he moved closer to her, pulling her into his side.

"I love you."

"I love you too." She smiled as he kissed her temple gently.

"What are you wearing to the ball?" Laila asked. Alex raised her brow at the sudden appearance of the Slytherin. She was sitting alone, waiting for her friends.

"Since when do you sit at the Hufflepuff table?"

"It's time I practice what I preach. Inter-house unity and stuff."

"And what does my ball outfit have to do with you?"

"You're going with a tournament champion. You can't just show up in a raggedy dress."

"Laila-"

"Shh shh, you're a little smaller than me, but no matter. I think maybe a gold? I have a gold that would look perfect on you."

"Thanks, but I'm good. Really, no need."

"There's every need. Appearances are vital, especially to an event as important as this. And you're going with a champion- all eyes are going to be on you." Laila said. "Think of me as your guide into proper society."

"But I don't want to."

"Okay, think of it like this. You can either do it my way, or I can blackmail you until you do it my way."

"With what?"

"You know what." Laila challenged and Alex rolled her eyes.

"I hate you."

"I know." Laila grinned and left as Megan fell into the chair next to Alex.

"It's too early for transfiguration."

"Don't let Charlie hear you say that." Alex grinned.

"How are you always up so early?" Megan grumbled, picking a piece of toast and spreading jam on it.

"It's a gift." Alex shrugged.

"How many hours of sleep do you even get?"

"Depends. I don't know."

"How many did you get last night?"

"Hey look. Hannah managed to drag Susan out." Megan rolled her eyes but accepted the subject change.

Transfiguration was always fun. McGonagall was stern, of course, but she was also helpful. It was also the class they had with Slytherins that year. After breakfast, Alex got caught up with chatting with Cedric before class, that she almost ended up late. She had to sit with Pansy since all the other seats were taken.
"Why's everyone avoiding you?" Alex asked, sitting down and getting out books. Pansy just glared at her and Alex nodded. "Right. I get that." She said, and waited patiently for McGonagall to start the lesson.

Halfway, Alex decided to give talking to Pansy a second try. "Has Draco asked you to the ball yet?"

"Shut up." Pansy hissed.

"I'll take that as a no. I don't know what's taking him so long."

"He's not going to. The ball's in a few days." Pansy said pointing her wand furiously at the guinea fowl, turning it into a rather scary guinea pig with a beak.

"He said he wanted to, actually." Alex corrected, turning her wand on the hybrid creature. "But that he thought you were going to say no."

"He thinks that?" Pansy asked and Alex reverted the guinea pig back into the fowl.

"I told him to man up but I guess he got nervous." Pansy tried the spell again, successfully turning the bird into the rodent. She turned to Alex.

"You have to help him."

"Or you could just ask him." Pansy looked unimpressed. "What are you going to make me do?"

"Just make sure we get a moment alone so he can ask me."

"Easier said than done. And what do I get out of it?" Pansy looked her up and down.

"How about a proper outfit to the ball?" Alex rolled her eyes.

"That is the second time in as many hours. I don't need a pity dress. I'll help you... for a favour, though."

"What?" Pansy asked and Alex smirked.

"I'll need your help with a prank."

"What prank?" She sounded suspicious.

"I don't have all the details yet, but it'll be against Danny-"

"For the red paint?" Alex's face soured at the reminder. "Alright, deal."

A/N- I'm soooo sorry, I'm a little later than usual today. Thanks for being so patient, you guys. Honestly, I'm in a bit of a snag so I'm really behind in my drafts, but it's okay. I'll figure it out soon. I'm just having a little trouble writing angsty Hermione. I know that doesn't really sound right, but I promise it goes with the plot. Anyways, hope you enjoyed thissss xx
