Chapter 17

"Akutagawa!" Atsushi-kun screamed, leaping to the Port Mafia operative, arms and legs already transformed.

He raised his fist or... paw? and struck at Akutagawa.

Akutagawa raised a wall between them, his ability creating a shield.

Rashoumon struck out to hit Atsushi-kun, but he dodged as he threw a kick to Akutagawa's head.

However, Rashoumon stopped the strike and flung Atsushi-kun away.

"Looks like you've improved your acrobatic skills, weretiger." Akutagawa commented as Atsushi-kun clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"What are you doing here, Akutagawa?" He asked.

I watched the sneer fall off Akutagawa's face. "To kill you." Akutagawa replied.

"Don't you understand the situation we're in right now?" Atsushi-kun asked, annoyed.

"We may no longer have a place to live!" Atsushi-kun shouted.

"I don't understand you one bit." Atsushi-kun muttered, glaring at Akutagawa.

Akutagawa's face stayed cold, "I don't remember ever asking for your understand." Akutagawa said.

"Oh dear." A voice crackled through my ear piece.

"Akutagawa-kun still has a terrible habit of going solo." Dazai-san commented, sighing.

"All right. We don't have time to deal with him. Let's move on." Dazai-san said.

"But..." Atushi-kun started but I interrupted.

"Atsushi-kun, go take control of the Moby Dick. I'll deal with Akutagawa." I said.

Atsushi-kun looked ready to object but I grit my teeth.

"We don't have time. Go!" I said as Atsushi-kun nodded, hesitating for another second before running off.

Akutagawa took a step forward towards where Atsushi-kun ran off but I pulled out my blades, holding them in front of me.

"Don't move." I said making Akutagawa turn back to me.

He sneered. "And what are you going to do?" He asked as I narrowed my eyes.

"All right then. Come at me, wing girl." Akutagawa said, taking a defensive position.

"You didn't seem to be able to fight when I rescued from Silent Winds." Akutagawa said making me tense.

The memories came flooding back. Dr Tsukuda... Moriai-san... The torture...

I watched Akutagawa sneer as he saw how his words impacted me.

"Fight me." Akutagawa said as I stood still before answering.

"No." I said making Akutagawa's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.

"What?" He asked as I narrowed my eyes.

"No. I'm not fighting you." I said as I dropped my blades to the ground.

"y/n-chan. What are you doing?" Dazai-san's voice came in through my earpiece.

I didn't reply, pulling it out before stepping on it.

I watched as Akutagawa stared at me.

"What are you doing?" Akutagawa asked as I pulled my other blades out, dropping it to the floor with a clatter.

"I'm not fighting you." I said again as I saw Akutagawa scowl as his Rashoumon surged up and flew towards me.

I didn't move, didn't dodge as I felt the dark monster plunge straight through my stomach.
