After the students left to their dorms to sleep one last time before going home the next day, Severus made it his mission to have a chat with Dumbeldore about what just happened. Walking up to the gargoyle he whispers the password, Sherbert Lemon. Going up the moving staircase, he barges into the office, not bothering to knock considering how upset he is.

Severus storms up to the desk, "Albus, we need to talk about dinner".

Dumbledore looks up and smiles at him, "Ah, Severus. How can I help you?".

Severus sighs, "What on earth was that stunt you pulled earlier?".

"I'm afraid I don't know what you're referring to, Severus".

"What warranted the decision to publicly announce the awarding of points after already declaring Slytherin the winner of the House Cup? Giving my snakes false hope and then tearing it down?! Merlin, Albus, what were you thinking?".

Dumbledore sighs, "Severus, I can assure you the points awarded were well deserved".

"I can accept that, but why do it in front of everyone?".

"Is this about your daughter, Severus?".

Severus looks at Dumbledore, very confused as to why he thought it necessary to mention Lilith in the middle of this conversation.

"What?".

"Well I'm assuming the reason you are upset about the situation is because your daughter is in Slytherin?".

Severus sighs, "It's not the only reason but yes. I know that she is going to be very upset when we go home. And not only her, but Draco as well. He is my godson and I don't want to see either of them upset".

Dumbledore nods, "I can understand that. Please understand, Severus, that I did not intentionally do this to upset either of them".

"I would hope not".

At this point, Severus realises that this conversation is going nowhere and clearly Dumbledore is refusing to listen to him. So he decides to have the final word.

"You publicly awarded Gryffindor the exact amount of points needed to surpass my house, even though the term had officially ended. I would still be upset even if my daughter and godson weren't in Slytherin. I would hope you aren't punishing my snakes and as headmaster I would certainly hope you don't have a negative bias towards them".

With that he turns and leaves, his robe flowing behind him. His snakes are like his children, and both Lilith and Draco can tell you that he is very protective of his family.
