"There's a ball tomorrow night. The Prince will be choosing a queen."

"He's not even here."

"The news is he left when he heard that Lady Isabelle is coming."

"Seriously Wren. That can't be the reason."

He shrug. "They have a not so nice history. The story is she want him for his title and so he dispise her for it."

She's clearly a material girl.

"Anyways everyone knows that his mate reject him cause he's blind."

"What? When was that?"

"We were young but my parents tell me. She left him for someone else. I don't think she knows he's royal."

"Stupid woman. A man being blind don't make him any different from a man that can see."

"Try telling material women that. I'm just glad I have Wren."

"You're lucky."

"Did you ever find your mate?"

"I reject him. He's an alpha. He want me and he want his girlfriend."

"So in other words he want to keep a mistress." I nod. "You did the right thing. Men like those don't change. They want the best of both worlds."

"I'm over it honestly. I have better things in life to think about than wasting my time thinking about a man who clearly don't care how I feel."

"You're strong. Stronger than I would be. Maybe thats what make us great friends."

I smile at him.

"Bestfriends?"

"Bestfriends."

We sat in silence until my phone interrupt the silence.

I pick it up to see Mandy's name on the screen.

I answer it and I heard her crying on the other side.

"Mandy are you OK?"

"It's your Dad."

"What happened?"

"He's dead Del."

I could feel the blood drain from my face.

"What happened?" My voice sound strange to my own ears.

"Heart failure."

"Thank you for telling me." I hang up and stand.

"Everything ok?"

"I need to be alone."

I went to my room and lock myself in. I let the tears fall. I just lost everything. The one person who understand me more than anyone else.
