Coralie stood in an empty room with her arms folded across her chest and her left leg bouncing in anticipation.
Her head lifted as Kane was brought into the room by two guards, chains on his wrists.
She stares at her brother with pain in her eyes.
"Are you alright?" He steps towards her.
Coralie's eyes instantly glossed over as she shook her head and hugged him, her eyes shut tightly as her head was pressed against his collar.
"This isn't happening," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I'll get you out of this."
"Coralie," he sighs. "Anyone caught helping will be condemned to death, too."
"I won't get caught," she pulls away, staring him in the eyes.
"Sweetheart, I'm begging you. Don't do anything."
"I won't let them kill you, Kane," she cried. "You're my brother- my big brother. You can't die. You're the only family I have-"
"Cora," he whispers. "It'll be okay."
She looked up at him with tears rushing down her face. "We can't give up now. I won't let you die like this."
"Coralie, please stay out of it," he pleads.
"Would you stay out of it if our positions were switched?" She wipes at her cheeks as he grew quiet, knowing he would put himself in front of any bullet if it meant saving her. "Exactly."
"Sweetheart... I haven't done much good as your brother. Let me go knowing that it is I who is being punished rather than you. If you love me, you'll stay out of it."
She was silent for a few seconds, her eyes falling downwards. "You haven't called me Sweetheart in years."
"I missed calling you that," he says before calling for the guards, watching his sister with pain on his face as guards enter the room and retrieve him.
