- 13 - - To Want and To Need -
"The rover's almost charged. We need to pack up. We'll be home soon," Bellamy pulls everyone out of the silence they've been enduring for the last few minutes.
"Then what? Run away?" Clarke scoffs as she paces back and forth.
"We're not running away," Coralie rolls her eyes from her seat on the hood of the rover beside Jasper.
"We need to regroup with the others and find another way to defeat-" Bellamy tries to speak but is cut off.
"There is no other way," Clarke complains. "We need to find a Nightblood. We need to unlock the Flame. It's the only way to stop Alie."
"What do you expect us to do, Clarke?" Jasper throws his head back in annoyance. "Walk into random villages asking for their Nightbloods?"
"If that's what it takes."
"We're not doing that," Coralie argues. "We just barged into Luna's rig and people died, innocent people. We can't keep storming into villages and taking innocent lives along with us."
"If Alie found us in the middle of the ocean, then she can find us anywhere. I won't help you destroy another Grounder village," Octavia adds.
"If we don't find a Nightblood, there won't be any Grounder villages," Clarke tries to reason. "Or a home for us to go back to."
"That's all the more reason we go there and make sure our friends are okay," Bellamy counters.
Clarke looks at Bellamy despondently. She then looks at the others, who all silently take his side. With clenched fists, she walks off to take a breath.
Bellamy takes a step forward to follow her and Coralie shifts in her seat at the thought of him going to comfort her like he has done many times before. It's never bothered her before, she doesn't know why it is now.
Bellamy evidently stays put.
"She'll be fine. Just let her cool off," Jasper shoes a hand in her direction.
Bellamy and Octavia continue loading the rover while Coralie sharpens the edge of her arrows. Clarke's absence ventures on for a few minutes and Coralie ignores the drop in her gut when Bellamy goes off in search of her.
Not too much time goes by before the two are coming out from the woods with a Grounder accompanying them. Coralie doesn't bother asking questions, instead sliding down from the hood and climbing into the back of the rover.
