I blinked and opened my eyes. I felt stiff and my stomache hurt, alot. This birthing business is painful and I don't admit that easily.

Dimitri sprung to live. His eyes looked so haunted.

"What's wrong Comrade?"

All of the sudden I felt a familiar spurt of joy that did not come from me.

My eyes must've looked huge as understanding dawned on me.

"I died last night. didn't I?" It wasn't a question, it was a statement.

Dimitri nodded looking so broken. Even though my gaze was fixed on Dimitri's sad and broken figure, I could tell that Lissa was sitting right next to me on the other side. Gosh I'd missed this.

I couldn't not save you. Not with the way I felt. Not with Dimitri's broken and pleading expression. Not with Mason. He deserves to grow up with his mom.

I nodded. I understood.

I started to open my mouth to tell Lissa that she shouldn't have saved me because of the cost on her.

Don't you dare say it. Don't you say I shouldn't have saved you.

I closed my mouth and nodded.

I reached over to caress Dimitri's cheek. "Where is my son?"

He leaned down and kissed me on the lips. "I'll go get him."

The smile I had missed returned to his lips.
