There are shrieks coming from multiple directions around us. I sprint to the stairs, not looking back. I reach the door, don't take any chance and just ram it with my shoulder.
It swings open. I was going to slam it shut behind me when I realize the guy was not following me as fast as I thought. He has a painful grin on his face. His injured leg slowing him down significantly. I've got nothing but an empty gun and my combat knife.
And the creatures are right behind him.
He shoots backward without really hitting anything, but the closest abomination backs off a bit for a short moment.
I am really tempted to left him behind. The abominations will eat him and I can loot his corpse.
But the guy saved me. Even after everything that happened.
Even after I killed his friends.
