"So uhm can I ask why you have a key for an observatory?" Harry looked at him in confusion before taking another bite of the pizza.

Louis wiped his hands as he finished eating and cleared his throat. He wasn't able to fully enjoy the date; the cramp about making the most perfect night for him didn't go away easily.

"I had astronomy class in my first year for extra credits. The teacher needed a few people to help him catalog every equipment here and in return, they didn't have to do the final exam for the class. I volunteered, obviously," he laughed a bit, while mustering the place. "He gave me a key, so I didn't have to look for him every time I came here and I might have forgot to give it back."

Harry smiled, but also tried to pull a serious, deprecating face.
"So this is illegal for real."

"Yeah, can't say I didn't warn you."

"Mom was right, I should of stayed away from bad boys."

Louis' laughter felt like receiving a drop of sunshine after a long, rainy day and in the golden light he was even more beautiful.

"Anne is always right," he replied. "She told me I'll make it to the football team and I did. She also said me and Gemma will get in a lot of trouble, cause we tell each other our stupid ideas, then actually make them happen..."

"...And later both of you ended up at the police station." Harry shook his head, cause he remembered that day very well.

"To be fair, I didn't expect that the elephant will pull her in."

Harry took a sip of the ice tea, then took a meaningful look at his boyfriend.

"Why would anyone let their friend climb around their neck just to have a cool picture at the zoo?"

"Why would you make such a low fence for a fucking elephant?"

The younger boy burst into laughter and shook his head, causing the curls flying around. "I loved your friendship."

The smile on Louis' face faded as the nostalgia ended with the last, painful memory of the girl, who used to be his best friend.

"Yeah, me too..." he blinked a couple of times to clear his mind again and put on a half-hearted smile. "You still have some pizza sauce on your face, love."

"What?"

"Sauce. On your face."

"I thought we're having a moment, you know, finally talking about the past and you straight up changed it to pizza?"

Although he hated talking about what happened, the offended look of Harry was too cute to say no. The older boy sat a bit closer, wiped off the tomato sauce with his thumb, then raised both eyebrows.

"Do you really wanna talk about that night on our first date?"

"Not knowing anything is killing me," he didn't glance at him, but knew the other was trying to figure out whether he should start talking or not. "It's been three years."

"And this is why it's not important anymore."

Harry gulped, but the knot in this throat didn't seem to disappear. "It is. For me."

Louis sighed and closed his eyes for a moment. Nobody knew about what happened, except for him and Gemma. Not even his mom or Zayn... nobody.
Louis made himself believe: if he didn't think about it, it didn't really happen. Burying the memory deep in his mind wasn't the best choice, but a necessary one. Now he couldn't do anything about it, so sharing the story of his scar and the argument with Gemma felt useless.
