Chapter 6

Veera: I will help you but on one condition.

Veera looks at Tanet with a smirk on his face.

Tanet: What?

Veera: The day we succeed in bringing them together, you will leave us and go far away from here.

Tanet looks at Veera in shock on hearing his condition.

Veera: I don't want a person like you in Daw's life.

Tanet felt like someone stabbed his heart. The pain was unbearable but he kept a straight face.

Tanet: Agreed. I won't stay even if you regret your decision later.

Veera: I won't

Tanet: Okay

Veera: Deal

Tanet: Deal

They shake hands over the deal and walk back to their rooms.

Tanet's POV:

Tears are falling down Tanet's eyes as he recalled their conversation. He hates me so much that he doesn't want me anywhere near him. I was so happy that I could at least see him from far but now.. Why am I so pathetic? Why do I love him so much? He never leaves a chance to hurt me while my heart craves for him every time I see him. Why are you doing this to me God?

Veera's POV:

I told him to go away from me but why does my heart hurt so much? It's not like he ever loved me. It was all a game for him. Why didn't he protest when I asked him to leave all of us and go? Maybe he doesn't care for anyone.

As Veera sat in his room lost in his thoughts, he heard a knock on his door.

Veera: Come in

Someone opens the door and enters the room. Veera looks up and is surprised to see Kla standing near the door.

Veera: Kla

Kla: Veera, are you busy? I need to talk to you about something.

Veera:Sure. Please sit down. Let's talk.

Kla sat on the couch and started fidgeting with his hands. Veera could sense the nervousness in him.

Veera: Kla, just say whatever you have in your mind. Don't think too much. I am your friend.

Kla: Veera, please don't be angry and just listen to me before you come to any conclusion.

Veera: Hmm

Kla: It's about Tanet.

Veera tense on hearing Tanet's name but he asks Kla to continue. Kla tells Veera about the conversation he heard between Tanet and Daw earlier today and also about his doubts.

Veera: So you think we may have misjudged Tanet.

Kla: Hmm

Veera felt a pang in his chest as he thought about their last conversation. Did he really misjudge him? Will he regret the condition he placed before Tanet?

Kla: Veera

Veera: Hmm

Kla: I think we need to know the complete truth before we make any decisions.

Veera: Hmm. See if you can learn anything from Daw.

Kla: Hmm

Veera: I will speak to Tanet.

Kla: Okay. Then I will see you tomorrow.

Veera: hmm

Kla: Goodnight

Veera: Goodnight

Kla exits the room while Veera lay on his bed unable to wipe out Tanet's sad face from his mind.

Next day morning:

Everyone gathered around the dining table to eat breakfast. There is an eerie silence in the room. Veera looked at Tanet who is avoiding any eye contact with him. But Veera could see that his eyes are swollen and dark circles have formed around his eyes.

Veera(in mind): Did he cry? Why does he look so lost?

Daw is not much better either. He also looked like he hadn't slept in days. Kla felt agonized by his looks. But he didn't know how to console him without hurting him.

Tanet and Daw had a slice of bread and walked back to their room in silence. Seeing their condition, Veera and Kla felt bad. They knew that they had to talk to them. Veera was the first one to approach them. He went to their room and knocked on the door. Daw opened the door.

Veera: Can I speak to Tanet?

Daw: Hmm. Tanet, someone's here looking for you.

Tanet soon  comes to the door.

Veera: Can we talk?

Tanet: Hmm.

Veera: In private.

Tanet: Ok.

Tanet follows Veera as he walks out of the house. They walked on the beach in silence.

Veera: Tanet

Tanet: Hmm

Veera: Is there something you want to tell me?

Tanet: No

Veera: Tanet

Tanet: There was some things that I always wanted to tell you but now, it doesn't matter.

Veera: Why?

Tanet: Because you already made your mind about me and whatever I say will not change anything.

Veera: But

Tanet: Let's forget about us and talk about Daw and Kla. The faster we get them together, the sooner you can get rid of me.

Veera felt hurt on hearing Tanet's reply. Did he really screw up their relation so much that there is no coming back? Only time will tell.
