Chapter 18

"Are you sure this is the address?" Lorenzo spoke after the carriage had dropped them off near a isolated place a bit from the city.

Eleanor couldn't believe what she was seeing, dear god there was no soul around!

Looking down at her little piece of paper she couldn't help but frown, "It has to be...Karina gave it to me.."

"Karina?" He inquired, and she nodded silently before answering, "She— she was actually the person who persuaded me to come here.."

He kicked a rock with his feet, "Well has she ever been here before?"

Eleanor also wondered that fact, since this could not be the place for anyone to live... there was hardly houses anywhere, just a stranded road seeming to lead no where... far from her eye sight could see she noticed yards, "Perhaps there?"

"Armoire mío, I don't think it's necessary..."

She followed his gaze and saw the same address on the peace of paper and her eyes widen seeing a ruined little cottage...

"Dear god!"

Surely the address must have been incorrect? After all Karina said that she hadn't meet her sister in ages...

"I would like to speak with that builder, supposedly improvement is needed.." He murmured brusquely before meeting her gaze, "Well then, Indeed it's been an adventure today, I suppose the carriage haven't went too far if we head back we can still catch the groomsman," Lorenzo spoke as if it wasn't an complication if she didn't find Eva.

Two weeks in Rome. She's been here for two weeks! And nearly a month in Italy.

When she wasn't plagued with finding Eva,  she and Lorenzo walked the street of Rome, assuring her that the woman must be known around. He had spoken with the Italians asking for a foreign middle aged woman and he'd convinced her that someone would have answers.

She'd had the patience. Lorenzo who was the cause for it... Perhaps it was all because of what happened ever since that night after she admitted she wanted more... Ever since then the flame between them only grew hotter each day that went by in Italy...

Every night she slept soundly in his arms after rounds of lovemaking that always left her satisfied...

Through out the days he had showed her around theatres, restaurants and even watching a bullfight

Lorenzo finding amusement between her cringing when the contestants was hit and jumping up in triumph when one got back on his feet. Lorenzo took joy in including her with the beauty of Rome, he even shared her tales of his life.. Every day she was starting to feel more and more for him.

Not only could he invoke desire from her but also happiness she hadn't felt for so damn long, even when he provoked her deliberately in ways no lady should be she couldn't help but fall more and more for him,

And that was one of the reason why she desperately wanted to find Eva, she couldn't bear to think there would come a day Lorenzo would tire of her...

Just like the rake he was said to be....

No she wouldn't think of that...

"What has you so disturbed Cara?" He asked tenderly.

Her heart ached at the concern in his voice, that was one of the many things she came to love about him.

He always asked as if he knew she was disturbed, pondering on things.. whenever he sensed she was drifting away he would seek answers.

grasping his hand she couldn't help but feel calm by that little contact, he squeezed her in return, intertwining their fingers,

"Nothing.. I am just disappointed" she murmured looking away from his eyes hoping he wouldn't inquire further..

"I can't say I am..." he said it so softly and quiet she thought she heard him wrong.. her eyes flew to his and saw the intense look behind them before it flickered and the emotion was gone, "I wouldn't want to see you off at some horrible place like this... Imagine if a witch resides here.." he grinned and she felt a thud inside her.

What had she thought? That he meant he wanted her to stay?.

Hah! She really needed to get a hold of herself.

Now she was back in the building they resided in and she couldn't still shake of the feeling of distress... every day she wondered if she was in a dream, if she could just pinch herself out of it and find herself back in England where everything seemed dull and exhausting.

She knew it wasn't fair to Lorenzo, how much was she better of than him when he barely knew her as well?

Would he pity her? Think of her less when he knew the truth? Like the way all her acquaintances did?.

She was so deep in her thoughts she hadn't realised Lorenzo returned, his arms enfolding her, they pressed her back against a tall, firm, masculine body. A body she recognised immediately, having spent the past night curled snugly against it.

"You came back early.." she sighed on a smile, after excusing herself from the dinner she had expected him to join a few men for cigars.

He bent his head, smoothed his lips over her neck and along the underside of her jaw.

"Your doing it again..." he murmured tipping her head back, feathering kisses  over her cheeks and lips. She turned in his arms peeking up at him from beneath her eyelashes, "Doing what precisely?"

"Spacing off, what's going on in that mind of yours?" He was doing things to her that had her all far gone from a single thought, his hand travelling south, "Nothing of importa—-oh dear... Lorenzo!" She bit her lip to prevent sounds as he sought her mouth for open-mouthed kisses that had her tingling everywhere.

Making her forget everything but him.
