Your POV

Seven years of my life wasted on one person. I could have spent my time with people who would still be there for me regardless of anything or anyone that waltz in to their life. I always knew relationship breakups were bad, but these kinds of breakups were thousands of bullets piercing through your body.

I was hurt, I was broken and lost. Seven years is a long time to spend with someone, someone I trusted and told everything to. There were times where I would brush it off, but the thought was always in my head. It was tattooed on me and the old conversations to the last one kept replaying. It did something to me, I was still caught up and could only feel hatred, anger and betrayal when I saw her.

My ex-best friend. Niall.

He was always with him. He was never the type of person that could be alone or independent. He couldn't work on his own, so siding with him was how she functioned. Before her, he depended on me.
In the halls they held hands and make out by the lockers. The same lockers where I would wait for him during passing period to walk to class or lunch. We'd talk about everything, but towards what would mark the end of our friendship, all he talked about was her.

A girl he had a crush on. She was in our English class. She wasn't ugly, but I wouldn't call her good looking either. She played sports and had the expensive clothes. Apparently she was funny. Her jokes didn't make me laugh. They just annoyed me and she bothered me. Always picking on me and looking for ways to make fun of me, but she would laugh and later tell me to do the same because after all, it was only a joke.

Her name was Erica and she was a bitch. She was the girl that was mean to everyone because they didn't meet up to who she was. I didn't like her one bit, but he loved her.

Niall has never had a girlfriend. Erica was his first and he was blind, crushing hard and "in love".

It was all okay at first. We still talked and hanged even if the majority of the conversation was about Erica. Later on is when he would start to bail on me to be with Erica. He would ditch me in lunch and I had to sit alone because he was my only friend. In English he moved seats next to her.

I was forgotten.

He picked her over me.

...Flashbacks

"Hi, I like your backpack." A girl around my age said.

It was the first day of middle school at my new school where I didn't know anyone at all. I was shy and anxious to be here, but my mom forced me to come because a perfect attendance is everything.

"Uhm, thanks." I replied awkwardly.

She seemed so social and loud. Opposite of me, she liked being around people.

"My name is Niall."

"My name is (Y/N)."

"That's a cool name. I don't know anyone named (Y/N)"

"It's pretty uncommon I guess."

There was a moment of silence.

"Do you want to sit together? I heard there will be some partner work."

I didn't know whether to accept or not. I wanted to make a new friend, but I was also didn't want to be mean and say no. So I said what first came to mind.
